Keep the pressure up on the state commissioner office. also, make sure your policy doesn't require a waiting period after "going into effect", since you got diagnosed 2 weeks afterward.
They all suck and they all deny deny deny.
Hopefully you won't have to have a lawyer get involved, but just having one send in a letter might help.
What's all important though, regardless of what you were told, is what your policy documents state in writing, and how they define pre-existing.
