Okay I have to say many of the comments I read about CICA are not totally true. I worked for this company in Canada for a total of 13 yrs and bow I am in the Life Ibs industry. I find it quite funny how it is portrayed.
Combined does go through slot of agents and it is hard to succeed. However I have to say that in the time I was there I made a good living and achieved 2 GD awards, basically their top sales awards and I did it honestly and ethically. I was a District MGR and trained a team at one time of 8 salespeople w one who is currently still with the organization and I to her 17th year making a 6 figure income.
I had the opportunity to see W Clement Stone speak as well as Richard Raven and Peter Cherian and Pat Ryan. I have seen comments about CICA being sold every couple of years, that is incorrect. CICA was sold by AON back in 07 or 08. Prior to that they were owned by AON since 81 or 82. CICA was a cash cow for AON until direction of the company changed and was taken over/bought by ACE.
There distribution model does well in small communities but not so well in this day and age in big city areas. Their products are good but pay short term and the older type of policies which required overnight hospital confinement no longer work in this day and age w the shorter hospital stays.they have introduced fracture benefit policies, cancer aid policies and Critical illness which I sold for a 5 year period. The policies have been modified from the time they were introduced because they were too good for the consumer. I own this product and it is permanently paid up. I have seen claims paid on this product from past clients and I have seen thousands paid out on their disability products. Unfortunately their products are abused.
Overall it was a good learning experience. However one can make more money in the industry selling life insurance and investment products via industry leading companies. Combined does bot okay in this market, they are the leader for individual accident and health insurance in supplementary form. Products by themselves are bit enough but they are useful. Some of the sales tactics used by agents are not correct , unfortunately that can occur anywhere. Overall in today's day and age it would be hard to succeed, years ago door to door store to store sales worked well through the inference of influential names within the area or community. I began back where it went like this " for 77 cents we are offering a special 7200 accident hospital benefit plan, or for only 1.54 cents you can double your benefit to 1290 per month, just think of it!"
I learnt a lot and sold a lot and one thing they did teach me is to always remain positive, setting goals is a strength of the organization . Would I do it over, not sure but it gave me the base to become successful in this industry.
Anyways11

Sad part is every report is the same. Every rebuttal is from some recruiter who poses as a satisifed Combined Drone. I guess they will never learn. Oh, and to answer another report, the only reason they stay in business is because they get sold every couple of years. I guess the new age thinkers at these companies eventually wake up too. Stay away from Combined!!!
