Connecticut Avenue Brushless Damages Car Then Denies Damage Damaged my hubcaps, distracted me while inspecting car, then denied that any damage was done Washington District of Columbia
I took my Nissan pickup to Brushless right before they closed on a friday night. Poor baby definitely needed a wash, but was in otherwise good condition.
As the car came out, in the full dark, one of the attendants began chatting with me about my out-of-state plates. We shot the breeze, I took a cursory look at my car (in the dark) and drove off.
When I arrived home I realized that the silver color paint from my plastic hub caps was running down the tires. I found this odd as I was the last one to wash my car and knew that it wasn't like that before.
I called the carwash on Saturday morning to discuss the matter with the manager. He would not give me his name. He stated that I should have noticed that the hub caps were damaged before I left. I mentioned to him that it was dark and that his attendant had purposely distracted me before I left. I also mentioned that he had closed right after I left so I could not have called him earlier.
He would not give me the owners name and suggested that I was only trying to get money out of them. I said the car was old and that I didn't expect them to buy me new hubcaps but that he should make some effort to make up for damaging my car. He actually laughed at the idea.
This is my lesson - always check your car before you leave. ALWAYS. DO NOT BE FRIENDLY. PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON DC WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU AT ANY OPPORTUNITY - ESPECIALLY THE PEOPLE AT THE CONNECTICUT AVENUE BRUSHLESS CAR WASH.
