Consumer First Credit Card MAIL FRAUD Tampa Florida
I, too, received the pretty green certificate in the mail. Because my credit is not the best in the west, I sent in a check for $49.00 for the "rush". My check cleared my bank on the 19th of November. Still no card. I went online to find them and found this site and the 174 other complaints about this Consumer First baloney and this Robert Steven person.
I am now assuming he has my bank information, and will be at my bank first thing Monday morning to find out what I can do to protect my checking account. While I willingly wrote out and sent in the check, I doubt I can get a refund, but I am taking in a few copies of the reports against them from RibOff Report to see if the bank will help me get a refund. I have already requested a copy of the check and when I get it, will post a follow up with the depositing bank's information. This may help others.
I feel like a total moron for falling for this scam. I have always just torn up these things, but this time I didn't. I had received a similar offer a few yrs back from Capitol One and it was legit. I should have just been happy with that card and ignored this rip off scumbag Stevens.

Well I finally got their stupid catalog and "platinum" card. On the back is a telephone number!! Their phone number is: 813-879-4752 ANYONE USING THE PHONE NUMBER WHICH BEGINS WITH 661 AREA CODE--YOU ARE USING THE WRONG NUMBER. THAT NUMBER IS IN CALIFORNIA, NOT FLORIDA, AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CONSUMER FIRST. HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE! LeighAnn

THE PHONE NUMBER AND FAX NUMBER LISTED ON THE ORIGINAL REPORT ARE NOT FOR CONSUMER FIRST!!!! THEY ACTUALLY BELONG TO A REAL BUSINESS IN MY HOME TOWN. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THEM OR FAX THEM ABOUT CONSUMER FIRST!! THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND THE BUSINESS IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO CONSUMER FIRST. THESE NUMBERS WERE PUT ON THE REPORT IN ERROR!!!!
