Continental Services rip-off! Bait and switch when it was time to seal the deal. Las Vegas Nevada
I got a call from David Allen, representing a supposed Mastercard company, at my place of employment. He referred to a Mastercard I had recently applied for. I thought for a moment and in fact had applied for a Mastercard. Although the name of the company he represented, Continental Services, didn't ring a bell with me as the company I had applied with, I heard the guy out.
He was offering a "regular" Mastercard with an initial $2500 limit, no annual fees, no monthly fees, and 0.0% interest rate that could be used for purchases and for cash internationally!! They threw in a 3 day 2 night stay at the vacation location of my choice, all expenses paid!! All that was required was a one time fee of $329.80 which must be paid in advance. He assured me that this would rebuild my credit in no time.
When it came time to verify and record all of my information with his supervisor, he asked me to answer only the question asked. He reviewed the deal, but left out the part about the credit card.
When it came to the question "Did my representative promise you anything beside what we have just discussed?" and I said "Yes, he promised me a Mastercard credit card with an initial credit limit of $2500". I then heard a loud "click".
I asked "What was that noise". He replied "What noise?" I said "That click I just heard, what was that?" to which he replied "Oh, I just took you off of the recorder". When I asked why he told me because we weren't discussing the terms of the deal, to which I replied "I think it's because you didn't like my last answer."
I thanked him for all the information I had requested on the company and told him it would come in very handy when I reported them to the Better Business Bureau the the Attorney General's office. They hung up.
I had to close my checking account and reopen under a new account number. I smelled a rat from the beginning!! Lesson learned - If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and waddles like a duck, chances are it IS a duck. And if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Their parents must be so proud!!!
