So I get the Intoxalock like 3 months ago. No problems whatsoever, until my second recalibration. The first unit I get starts to give me problems right away. It looked like it hadn't been taken care of by the previous renter. Either way, it starts making me blow in it over and over again saying my breaths weren't sufficient. When I am breathing as I always have. Then one day, during a snow storm I get stranded with my wife and kids in a parking lot up the road. I blow over and over and just keeps saying too soft. AAA comes to tow it and magically when I try to breathe in it works. When I get it home it refuses to start back up. I call the company and they agree to ship me another one. Yet I still have to pay the installer his 15 dollar fee. The next unit works pretty good, gives me a little trouble here and there. The other night I go to pick my wife up from work, 5 mins up the road.. IT starts and I pick her up. As I am pulling into the driveway it requires a sample. I breathe in, the d**n thing freezes and then says FAILED. It informs me to wait while it counts down and then asks for another sample. I give it and this time it says PASSED. WTF!!! This wouldn't frustrate me so much if I did drink something, anything. I haven't drank alcohol in a year, and I didn't have any water or liquid of any sort for at least 3 hours before driving! Why would it allow me to start the truck, drive 5 mins up the road and 5 back, then say I failed, and two mins later say I passed? Now I have to go have it serviced, pay almost 85 dollars, and have a violation on my account! I don't drink alcohol, use mouthwash or chew gum! So how is it they can say these things are 100% accurate? How can they report to the dmv that you violated? I don't even want to drive anymore because this thing is so unreliable. I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack everytime I use this d**n thing. How can these companies get away with this and why are the DMV's so naive to see that there are failure rates for everything?! This company has so far caused me $100 in unnecessary fees!

The unit is flawed by design but the states all make us put it into vehicles and pay monthly  for any and all DMV issues at the Judges discrection

I've been an Electronics Engineer (yea 1 of those with a degree) for over 30 years.  Intoxilock is a piece of sxbw

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep who flat out refused to give me even her name, and then when I asked to speak to a supervisor was told that I could be transferred to voicemail.  I asked her to please have the supervisor contact me when available, and asked when that would be.  Not only did she refuse to even give me a ballpark estimate, she wouldn't even give me a day when the supervisor would get back to me.  My car has been sitting, dead of course because this product is a piece of junk that ruins car batteries, in a Car Toys parking lot for 4 days now.  3 days ago I had another hour long phone call with another very rude Intoxalock rep who insisted that it was basically my problem and that my battery was the cause of the recalibrated device not working.  It took me putting the Car Toys technician on the phone with her to confirm that it was not my battery, it was their faulty device, before she would even listen to me.

At that point she guaranteed me that they would overnight a replacement part and it would be in by Saturday.  It's Saturday, no part, my car is still sitting dead in a bad part of town, and I couldn't have had a more rude conversation with a customer service rep than the one I just had.  The customer service rep made it very clear that she could care less about my issue and made it clear that I was an inconvenience to her.  I am beyond fed up with this joke of a company.  They have a captive consumer base that has no other options and they feel they can treat their customers like garbage.  I will at a minimum be filing in small claims court, I would love to file a class action lawsuit.  I've already emailed a class action attorney, and would love it if anyone else who has had similar experiences with intoxalock contact me at (((email redacted)))
