Coming from a small indie production company we try to give artists the benefit of the doubt and assume that lack in experinace though make up for it in talent and devotion to thier craft...but in some instances artists try to rip us off and claim it us trying to scam them. It comes as no surprise that our company was subjected to such an artist. After signing a basic agreement my componay went to great lengths to help Miss Duchess produce a hiugh qualiy low cost music video utlilizing actors and resources from across the east coast. Our script writer wrote a 16 page script for a music video, meet with her [Miss Duchess] on serveal occasions as we attempted to begin production [of the music video] as agreed upon. However, we could never reach Miss Duchess; her phone was always off and never repsonded to email and if she did it took days to get a reply. Two months later, after we booked actors and placed them on retianers, registered the script for copyright with WGA, contacted the film comission for locations, we were told to void the agreement. She then harassed our team with hateful and bitter text messages and insisted she be immediatly refunded a $200 deposit which was refundable as described in the agreement. She was issued the depoist three days later and then began to accuse us of fraud. It is artists like this that need to learn more about the film making process and understand that communication will and does make or break any project. I do not reccomened any producer or film maker offer thier servcies to Dawn Duchess until she gains more experinace and understanding of how the industry operates, and becomes more knowlegable about the legal aspects such as aquiring permits and production insurance.
