Dayton KOA Resort Penalized for cancelling 6 months in advance Brookeville Ohio
Called to cancel my reservation in April for three RV campground sites (booked for October) because plans changed and we would not be travelling to that area. Penalized me $10 per campsite, total $30.
Spoke with two representatives and received no help nor satisfaction. Cancellation made 6 months in advance and they needed to keep my $30.
Rip-off KOA! Make sure you know before you book or stay here. No compassion for cancelling it’s all about the greed.

In reference to your reply, it's all a moot point now, the KOA took my money for the cancellation. Yes there were three campsites made under the reservation in my name, so why couldn't the KOA charge me one penalty??? Because in my opinion it was all about the greed.
Also the cancellation was made 6 months in advance, so again in my opinion the campground had more than enough time to rebook with loss, so your arguments done't completely ring true. Anyway the bottom line is that you got your money and I learned a valuabale lesson, avoid KOA!

If you need to cancel your reservation, you must call the campground before the deadlines listed below to receive your deposit refund, minus a $10 cancellation fee.
The above statement was from the KOA website and it states the policy pretty clearly. You were well ahead of any deadline, so a deadline wasn't the issue. The issue is the standard fee for cancelling, which is $10 and is stated clearly. Now, you had 3 campsites and you opted to cancel all 3, therefore you would be liable for a $30 total cancellation fee. You paid $30 to hold the sites, so....you would not be entitled to any refund. They didn't rip you off - they abided by the terms and conditions of the reservation. You simply didn't wish to abide by your obligation.
No compassion for cancelling it’s all about the greed. No, you agreed to all of those terms and conditions when you made the reservation in the first place, including the one I just took from the KOA website. What you are now saying is, "gee...they should have compassion for me. Why should I follow the rules?"
So let's carry that a step further: Let's imagine IF KOA decided not to oblige itself to the terms and conditions of the contract - so when you showed up, they then told you - well, I don't have the 3 campsites you wanted because someone paid me more for them? You would scream and yell - and rightly so - because they failed in their obligation under the terms you and KOA agreed to. In that case, they ripped you off by NOT following their own terms and conditions. You would be entitled to those sites and more.
Your complaint however is that they followed the terms and conditions in the agreement you agreed to when you reserved the spaces and it cost you $30. You wanted them to violate the agreement you made when you made the reservation. How is that a ripoff? Sorry, but I don't see the issue here.
