Credit counseling by any company is a scam. While they are claiming they were "devastated" I'll bet that they kept making drafts from your bank account during that time. Creditors in general, hate credit counseling. They have "agreements" with them because they simply utilize them as an extended arm of their collection department. It is simply cheaper for them to pay a small portion of each of your payments to the credit counseling agency than to spend money, time and effort for their own collectors to call you. Creditors view credit counseling entries on your credit profile as one small step away from bankruptcy - a definite negative. In all honesty, the damage credit counseling will do to your credit profile is not conducive to rebuilding your credit history. Try withdrawing from this program. Contact your creditors and try very hard to negotiate with them. Many will be receptive, some may not. Try taking a second job, part time, and use all of the money to make additional payments to your creditors. Don't let credit counseling ruin your life. Don't trust these people as far as you can throw them. If you simply are too far in debt to ever dig out, even with a second job, look at bankruptcy as an alternative.
