I ordered a Dell 8200 in Sept of '02. When it arrived, it booted up weird and I got error messages. When I called, they tried to step me through fixing it, but it was too technical for me. They shipped me a replacement Dell 8200, overnight air, and paid to have the bad one picked up. I have had a few problems with the replacement one in the last 2 years, but Dell tech support and the 3rd party in home service people they hire have been great.

First off to let you know if I bought anything that did not work I would check into my return policy. You said it did not work from the start. 3 years ago Dell came with a 30 day money back. If you was not happy you call Dell they give you a RA number and UPS would come by your home and pick it up. Does not sound like that was done. And you said it was a laptop what type of service did you buy mail in or in home. If it was mail in when you talked to tech support and they could not fix it it at 1-800-624-9897 ext 66955 they would offer to send a box to your home to send the system back and Dell would fix it. If it was at home service they would have sent someone to your home. If this could not have been fixed over the phone. This would have nothing to do with Dell finance service because that is just a credit card through another bank. If you are still under warranty give this a try call 1-800-624-9897 ext 66955 they will be more than happy to help you out. IF YOU BOUGHT THE WARRANTY.
