Hari Shan lost deposit due to misuse of water urns.
It is correct that this customer hired 2 water urns from DeluxeHire. Hari Shan acknowledges that he collected them so there's no dispute there. He happen to mentioned that the event was a wedding so out of courtesy, we offered him two brand new water urns. Total value of the order is £59.40 and damage deposit at £100.00. Hari Shan returned the goods back later than the hire agreement date and was charged extended hire fee of £49.50 out of his damage deposit which he accepted leaving £50.50. Loss of earnings and cleaning charges came to £76.00. We did not pursue him for the deficit.
We rent water urns to boil water only and nothing else, otherwise we risk invalidating our warrantee due to improper use. When Hari Shan returned the urns, both the insides were covered in a thick sticky substance. We didn't know what it was so they were removed from stock for further investigation. We suffered loss of earnings as a result. There was obviously a need to clean and sanitise them which took time but was done in the end.
Additionally, the boxes they were packed in came back broken but we didn't make a charge.
We alway deliver despite what others may have you believe, but unfortunately, disputes begin as soon as goods are returned; thats just the nature of the hire business.
