I bought a vehicle on March 20 for $4,230.00. I took out a loan with Auto loan so the total with the interest is $6,085.00. I gave Dependable Auto Outlet $1,300.00 in cash and $450.00 on my debit. I wrote checks for the first payment of $42.76, and for the tags and plates $318.80.

The $1,750.00 to my understanding was for the downpayment, $318.00 for taxes, and $350.00 for temporary insurance for 30 days. Even though the paper for the insurance states 275.00. So basically they pocketed 75.00 of my hard earned money. If my calculations are correct from the 1750.00 after the taxes and tags are paid I have $1,082.00.

Dependable is claiming to the bank and myself that I put down only $740.00 for a down payment. If so then where is the $342.00... missing? They then tried to explain to me that the tags and first car payment was deducted from the 1750.00 when in fact they received and cashed checks in that amount from my checking account. I have bank statements to prove all of the above. They do not want to say in fact the approximate total of money that was given to them by myself.

The dealer Jim said I never gave that amount that on the paper I have stating that I did give that amount is invaluable and inaccurate. Although they signed it and it is official document written out by employees in their company. The owner then looked at the log in books for that date to see the amount received that was recorded for the day and confirmed my statement and amount. Then I asked so "where is my money"? He said he had to check he would call me back and never did. I been playing phone tag for over three weeks.

After the month that my tags did not reach me I called to inquire and was told the check I wrote wasn't written out to the correct person (although Jim the dealer is the one who told me who to write it out to) and I had to send a new check. I commented I would but my plates are expired I was afraid to drive and I needed transportation for work. I could not pick them up since I live in NJ and, since they were already expired. I did not want to risk driving far from home and getting stuck. Jim told me he would send the tags and I told him that thursday when I got paid I would resend the check. I was under the impresion that on good faith he would send the tags first since it was expired and not wait for the new check.

The following week I still had not receive my tags and I just resent the check of 318.80 for the tags. I called and Lisa picked up she said when they receive the check they would Fed EX my plates which they already had. I informed her what Jim had led me to believe but was not helped. So now I had to Wait three days for the mail to get to them and a day for Fed EX. Well on April 29 My car was towed. Nine days after the expired date.

Also my car was towed partly my fault because I drove over double lines and then they noticed my expired plates and towed my car. I called dependable explained the situation they claimed they would fax me a letter to help me in court for my summons and for me to fax the towing bill so that they can pay. Jim is the one who claimed this. They said they just received the check and would be sending the plates and I should be receiving it the following day which was a friday. I asked if they were sure so i could take off work recieve the package and get my car out.

Jim assured me by 12 noon friday the following day that the plates would be there. So I missed work and waited. No plates and Fed ex said they couldnt trace the package since they never received it. I called dependable at least 10 times and spoke with 3-4 different people. All giving conflicting versions of when the package was sent. So I lost money from work. I received the plates satuday and paid 138.60 for the towing. Now the owner is saying tough luck on that even though I did what I had to but they didn't.

I now have court on May 19 I lost out on 226.60 (for the towing and a days pay missed) plus the fines I am sure I will be requested to pay. I have called Dependable for over a week twice every day and have been given the run around. They are clearly not interested in clearing things out with me. Please help me I really don't know what else to do.
