I spoke with Dave Meadors last week regarding my smoke detectors that were purchased and installed 3 or 4 years ago. The batteries are already chirping, despite the fact that I was told they'd last 10 years. I'm a single mom with no access to a ladder to change the batteries. I asked him if anyone could come change them for me. He said that they don't normally change batteries for customers. He said the service people didn't have access to a ladder (I told him he should probably come up with a better lie than that since they had the ladder to install the devices and would need a ladder to do any necessary service/repairs).

He said I'd have to buy the batteries, rent a ladder, and pay a service call for someone to come do it for me. I then just asked him what kind of batteries it would need so I could take care of it myself. He told me it needed a pair of 3v lithium batteries that could be purchased online. Now I go to look for them online, learning that there are numerous 3v lithium batteries, and he didn't give me the specific model number to purchase. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service provided by this representative. However, after a little online research, this seems to be the norm for this company, and especially this individual.
