I bought an engagement ring from this place. It says it comes with a 3rd party appraisal but the appraisal I received was from "JEWELRY BY NOVEL". This "appraisal" was a sloppy document printed on a laser printer, no seal, no real signature and the "gemologist" was not certified. Read other reviews of this company and you will understand that this "3rd party" is NOT trained and is just a jeweller. I took the item to a REAL independent lab with REAL GIA graders and I did NOT get what I paid for!
I bought a 1 carat, 3 stone, D colour, VVSI clarity ring set in platinum. I received a .67 carat, G colour, I1/I2 clarity ring set in platinum. So yeah, 1 out of 4 things right. Thank goodness I took the ring to a private GIA certified gemologist for a proper appraisal right away... but the lack of quality was evident as soon as the box was opened. On the website the rings are beautiful and this one was obviously poorly made. Very little sparkle and dull looking. I brought the poor quality "appraisal" that came with the ring and showed it to the gemologist and he made the comment that it was an obvious scam and the so-called 'appraisal' was worthless since it was lacking any kind of seal or professional credentials but since I had bought the ring online he wasn't sure what I could do. I ordered a ring valued at $4,800... I received a ring worth less than $1200. Thankfully my credit card company was awesome.
When I tried to contact these fools I was hung up on. They then closed down their phone line for 2 weeks. They refused to return emails. Finally I insured the package, sent it back (at my expense) and filed a claim with my credit card company. They claimed they would process the refund as soon as they got my item back. I sent it with POD required and had to file the POD with my credit card company because DIAMONDBEAT disappeared off the face of the earth. My credit card company refunded me the amount of my purchase... Diamondbeat refused to respond to my credit card company. In all it took MONTHS to get my money back.
They completely ruined my ring shopping experience. Thankfully I found a WONDERFUL online vendor that provided me a FANTASTIC final product that I am still delighted with at a VERY reasonable price. Diamondbeat is a total scam but there are some good vendors out there. Unfortunately for me when I shopped Diamondbeat there were no reviews available. Had I found out that the appraisals came from "Jewelry by Novel" before purchasing I never would have bought anything.
It is also worth noting that once a complaint was made the company went out of their way to change their return policy on their website... thankfully I had saved (and printed) a screen shot of everything from their website on the day I received the wrong ring because I had a bad feeling they would give me a runaround. That is what eventually allowed my credit card company to return the money to me.
