I have finally paid my balance in full to Direct Merchants Bank and have requested that they permanently close my account.
I should feel liberated from this predatory lendor, however I have now called 3 times to close my account. Each time I have called I was told that the status of the account was "open in good standing with a zero balance".
One person there went so far as to try to sell me credit protection for the account that minutes earlier I had asked him to close. These people just dont get it.
I am putting Direct Merchants Bank on notice right now that if you try to pull any *@#$. I will be watching you like a hawk, and will file complaints with the States Attorney Generals Office in NC and Oklahoma.
If I need to hire an attorney it will be money well spent. This company really needs a good class action lawsuit to stop their practices.
I have methodically documented everything, dates, times, payments, balances, people spoken to, etc. I suggest that everyone do the same.
Word of advice make your payments to this company through their webpage and print the payment confirmation page. Otherwise they will try to drill you for a $39 late fee and harass you to no end for a "dilinquent account".

Here is the deal for anyone being victimized by this company..if you dont think you had and account your probably right. These Asswipes look for people with poor credit then lie and say you had and account with them usually five or six years previous, that's now closed so they have no record. Now look at the collections section on your credit report and I bet you will see a scum bag collection agency called Credit solutions that has "bought" your account. I diputed both and recieved the following letter. Credit solutions Corp. has purchased the above reference account. We have recieved notice of your recent consumer dispute with Direct Merchants. ( funny they got a dispute as well) We verified the dispute as it is presently being reported. ( play on words as there basically telling you, your right it isnt yours, I checked with all three CRA's and lo and behold they hadnt verified it). Credit solutions corp is in a position to offer you a substanial discount for immediate cash payment( here comes the kicker), you may be elligible for our credit reestablishment program.(how does a collection agency reestablish your credit). Direct merchants bank offers you a credit card with the bogus amount that was never yours and both negative trade lines get taken off and your shiny new Directs merchant bank card appears. BIG TIME SCAM
