The middle of Oct or Nov, 2008, I ordered service from Direct TV. I gave them my address and phone number and made an appt. for them to show up on Saturday which they never did. I contacted Direct TV and they scheduled the installation for the next day. So this is one day I wasted waiting around for them to show up. The installer who was supposed to show up at 9:00 called about 10:30 and stated he was running late and about 30 minutes out. I told him I was going to pick up breakfast and it would take me about that long. He stated I had to be there, so I sent my girlfriend and he asked me to pick him up a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. She did and I was never refunded for the purchase of it. He arrived a few minutes after 11:00 am on Sunday, and I guessed he would be gone in a couple of hours. It was not raining, but drizzling all day. I had ordered a HD + DVR receiver. He tried most of the day to get it working and was not able to even get a signal.
At 1:00, without even asking, he come in my house, puts his food in my microwave, heats his lunch and sits at my table and eats. Ok, fine, you could have at least asked first. He did not have to pull any wire under the house, being the fact he used the old Dish network cable installation. He went through three different receivers and dishes and could not get a signal. His redneck boss finally arrived about 5:00, and got it working a little. Not like it should. The HD channels would come in on a few, but not all. The receiver took over 2 minutes to even change channels. If you pulled up the channel guide, it was even worse. They blamed it on the rain and stated it would clear up after the weather changed. Nothing changed. They also left trash everywhere in my yard and told me that if I had ANY PROBLEMS, call Direct TV to have it looked at. They told me to keep my boxes in case of ANY PROBLEMS, i I had 30 days to return the equipment and there would be NO CHARGE.
I called them and told them the problems and they wanted to send them back to my house. I was not having these rednecks from hell, which I had to clean up after, back in my house, and informed them I had a 30 DAYS and I was well within that time period and wanted to return the equipment. They said they would send the boxes and I needed to make sure I sent them right back and there would be no further charges and I owed NOTHING. Well, two weeks later, I receive a bill from them for 582 dollars. My girlfriend and I both called on separate phones and kept getting hung up on, told there was no manager available, and put on hold for over 5 hours. If you ever spend over five hours on a phone, you will be furious. I then received a call from a credit collection agency. I disputed the whole thing and was told I needed to write a letter. I submitted an email to the Better Business Bureau and stated my complaint. Well, they responded with a letter stating that I didnt give them a second chance.
Im sorry, but these people that put it in and screwed up everything were not coming back in my house after that experience. I called Dish Network, and within an hour and a half, they were done and it was so professional. No trash in the house or in my yard. They didnt tear up my carpet or anything all within a hour and a half. Now the collection agency has sold the problem to another company and now they are demanding 493 dollars and 96 cent. I do not believe I owe a company like this anything and Im not the only person. There are hundreds of thousands of people on the internet with the same complaints and do not know who to contact. Neither do I, but Im trying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They reported me to a collection agency which I diputed, the collection agency still put it on my credit report with a dispute notifiicaion.
