I inquired as to whether or not Directv had dual tuner receivers similar to Dish Network. The customer service rep explained that they did, so I said "so if I got one of those I wouldn't be charged the $5.99 for the second receiver, right?!" She said yes I would. So I replied, "so then it's not a charge for the receiver, it's an additional charge for having your service?" The rep replied that if I wanted to consider it that way I could.

I was shocked that my bill, which should have been $44.99 plus tax was actually $75 including tax. I find it outrageous that they claim to give you the equipment for free for signing a 1 year agreement with them, when in fact you are actually leasing the equipment. I live in an area where without cable or satellite it is impossible to get television reception, so for them to add all these extra charges is ridiculous!!
