I took my SUV to Doctor Detail in Costa Mesa. Judging by the high end European sports cars they were working on and the price, I felt that the odds were good they would do a good job. Boy, was I WRONG! It looked OK from the outside, but inside WAS AWFUL. The tint in the rear section of the truck looked like the installer trimmed the tint with his eyes closed and didn't even bother to measure. Rough lines and jagged edges. The front windows were OK, but the back was just awful. Just tons of crooked cuts. I show it to friends and they just laughed, it was that bad. Then, when I took the truck to the carwash (After the required curing time) and the window washer wiped the windows, but didn't use any cleaning agents at my request. When he wiped, he wiped off a crayon type marker that was used to cover up even more mistakes. Now I had limo tint with sections of clear glass with light peaking through, because the marker coverup stuff was removed. It honestly was the worst tint job I've seen on car or truck. If you saw it, you'd agree, too.
I took the truck back and told the manager I wasn't happy. He's a nice guy, but basically gave this attitude like I was to just accept the bad job, because that's how it is. I don't think when someone pays top dollar or any amount, should accept a bad tint job. When I pressed the issue and showed him to poorly cut tint with daylight peaking through, after a few minutes of haggling and his tint guy saying he messed up, he finally agreed to repair it. A customer shouldn't have to haggle having bad job corrected, especially how much it cost. Well, they corrected it and within months my limo tint turned purple. I garaged this truck, too. They used very cheap tinting film on my truck and that's why it went purple quickly and scratched very easily. I can't imagine a service that does high end cars using such cheap tint film. It was an amazingly bad job with the cheapest possible tint film.
I traded in the truck a few months after that and never complained, because with their customer service and how well they stand behind their work, it would have been a waste of time. While Doctor detail did make the corrections, I feel that they should have fixed it without the customer having to haggle and used higher quality tint film. I have had two trucks tinted since and the work was done right the first time and the limo tint has never faded or scratched. I feel that Doctor Detail needs to hire better installers, use higher quality film and not give the customer problems when the work wasn't done right. Thank you.
