The repair shop here said the exaust lobe on the camshaft is VERY BADLY WORN and the ATV has been running like this for some time to get that much wear.
YUP , and Don Wood Polaris said " Well it worked fine when they checked it out " and " we did not take the engine apart to inspect it " That was one of many lame excuses they gave. As if you could not know their was something wrong the atv ran like a P.O.S. the moment I got it off the shipping pallet. It would stall and quit . That ways why it needed the caruretor rebuild and then it had NO power all all you could not even spin the tires on lose gravel and it took a full soccer field to get to its TOP SPEED of 18mph and thats all it would do . You do not have to know a thing about atvs to realise there was sometihing wrong with this atv
Don Wood Polairs is a authorized repair shop and they said " We check all atv out before we sell them at our shop and it runs Fine and no problems " That is what they told me on they phine when I called about it before I bid on it on ebay .
VEY DISHONEST PEOPLE DON WOOD POLARIS ARE !

Don't misunderstand me, I am not in any way defending the dealer. If it happened the way you say it did, and I assume it did, they were negligent.
I will just say that this is a perfect example of why purchasing something like this - sight unseen - on the Internet is a bad idea.
Even if both parties are being sincere, there is the posswibility of a different concept of what 'mechanically sound' means. Not saying that happened here but it's always a possibility in the best of circumstances.
But to buy something 'as is' that you have never seen is a recipe for disaster.
Good luck to you, if it's running now, enjoy it and good luck. I wish you well.
