I have been in practice for over 22 years, completed 9 years of residency and have been Board Certified in Plastic Surgery for 21 years. I have also received the Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery given by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
These allegations by Carlos are categorically false. I have never used Gortex in any rhinoplasty. I have never had a rhinoplasty patient that I did not follow up for at least one year; and during this time period I would have noticed a saddle nose deformity, which has never occurred in my practice. I have never inserted any plastic prothesis into any nose because I believe, as most plastic surgeons do, in the use of ones own tissues if a graft is needed. I perform all of my surgeries in accredited ambulatory surgical centers which follow all mandatory procedures including sterilization of instruments. Furthermore, 80% of my rhinoplasties are by the closed method, not open as this person states.
Unfortunately, in reviewing my patient database for the last 23 years, there is no patient named Carlos who I have operated on for a rhinoplasty.
All plastic surgeons understand that predicting healing is not an accurate science and explain this to their patients, as I always do. My patient materials come directly from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons which are quite thorough in this respect. If this is indeed a real patient, he would know from those materials that revisions may be needed at times, and would be planned with appropriate timing to allow tissues to soften prior to another procedure. My door is always open to all my patients to return. However, without any proper identification of this patient, I cannot verify nor accept this review in light of the inaccurate, false, and inflammatory statements made.
