I missed my payment for my shut-off plan and the entire bill came due at once. The past due amount was for $1,300. I tried to obtain assistance from the Department of Human Services and was denied. So, I was left paying the bill.
I called DTE and asked them how much I needed to pay to bring my balance to zero which would include the past due amount as well as the current amount. They told me $1,451.83. I paid that entire amount on June 21, 2013. On June 29, 2013, I received a bill for 253.00 and called DTE again. They said that this was an actual bill and that it needed to be paid. I disputed this amount as I was staying over by friends home with him and didn't use any utilities. They insisted that I go outside and read the meters which I did. The representative told me that with the numbers U gave, my bill was not accurate. The correct amount should be closer to $400.00. That is bull.I don't have any gas appliances in my home. My stove is electric and I haven't been home to use the hot water.
I questioned the rep on the phoneabout the actual billing. He told me that they had been getting estimates for the gas bill because of a dog. There is not dog. Plus, if there was a dog, how did they get an actual on the electric bill and not the gas bill when the metrs are next to each other in the back yard.
The rep. could answer any of my questions and refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor. He (Chad) told me that he was a supervisor and that there was no one else to speak to .
I can't believe that my bill is higher right now than it is in December and January, the coldest months of the year. I had to even get them to correct my Uninterrupted Heating and Colling bill because they were trying to charge me for using my Central air unit when the cover is still over the top. I have not turned the unit on since last year and then it was only for a few days.
The way company's are stealiing money from customers and getting away with it, it wouldn't surprise me if I weren't paying someone else's bill or house note....
I want someone to help put an end to DTE cheating customers out of their money. Plus, I have a neighbor who works for DTE. She told me that my bill was scheduled for shutoff and that she stopped it. First, how and why is she in my business like that. She shuld not be able to see my business like that and then tell me about it. I was very piissed off at the fact that she was able to obtain my information.
