I answered an add on craigslist for a 2003 Honda Accord EX6 from a Ssgt Susan Williams, USAF [email protected] She wanted to sell the car for  1500.00 US dollars and have eBay,s Buyer Protection Program handle the deal so I would be 100% protected.  I wired th money via western union to a Nicole Glover eBay Motors representive, Transaction CaseID#5721126609.  My daughter called me afiter I had returned from sending the money and told me that it was a scam.  I immediately notified the eBay Financial Department  that I wanted my money back and the sent me a email telling me to go to Regions Bank with a western Union located at 5810 US 90 hwy in theodore, Al.36582 at 9:00 am on today 11/21/2011 to pick up my refund.  There were no funds available there or any records of a transfer in my name.  I've not received any response from eBay Financial Department.  I've lost $1593.00

 Sincerely

...believing anyone is this stupid. This is worse in my books than going to Miss Mambo to cast a spell on someone. Hey Mambo, Mambo Craigslistiano, hey Mambo...

THAT'S IT! The OP should hire a Mambo to stick a few voodoo pins in the seller! That'll teach 'em!

You had to click past the long list of warnings to view the auto ads on craigslist. How many red flags do you require before the lights come on?

I guessed you missed the warnings posted all over craigslist that specifically warn you about this exact scam.  Directly from craigslist...

---------------------------------------------------------
How to recognize a vehicle scam attempt on CL:

Shipping a vehicle to you is suggested by seller eBay Motors or another intermediary is specified by seller

Payment by Western Union or a money wire is requested price is unusually low (fraction of blue book value)

If you see these tell-tale signs, flag ad as "prohibited" and avoid Offers to ship a vehicle are virtually 100% fraudulent

eBay has no involvment in craigslist for sale ads, and any eBay or similar emails or web pages you receive are fake

Never use Western Union or wire transfer to pay for goods - only a scammer will ask for this, and any funds sent will be lost

Do not buy vehicles sight-unseen, regardless of low price. The vehicle does not exist, and any money you send will be lost.

Stories about divorcees or departing servicemen needing to sell quickly at a low price are generally fraudulent

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just how many of those warnings were there in your transaction?

My daughter called me afiter I had returned from sending the money and told me that it was a scam.  I immediately notified the eBay Financial Department  that I wanted my money back

So you are told it is a scam and then e-mail the scammers telling them you want your money back, and seem shocked that there was no money when you went to pick it up.
