Well just to get the ball rolling here, there is no reason for a third party to post on this site regarding Elephant Wireless when you are not aware of the circumstances. For those who don't know, when you go to the mall and purchase a phone from a Cingular store, 99% of the time it is what one would call an "Authorized Agent".....retailers of Cingular Wireless. Cingular pays us to sell their product....just like if you would go to a corporate McDonald's or a franchise of McDonald's...same menu, same prices, different owner. Upon purchasing a phone from Elephant Wireless, the customer is made aware that they are in fact purchasing a phone from an authorized agent, and that if they were to cancel their service or neglect to pay their bill for 3 consecutive months, that Cingular Wireless would cancel their service and we would be due reimburesement for the equipment they have purchased. The customer then acknowledges this and signs and provides us with their credit card number. Every customer receives a copy of this documentation. We have never "gone on a shopping spree" with a customer's credit card number, nor do we ever intend to. Every customer also signs a contract with Cingular Wireless. We do represent Cingular Wireless and sell their service. Also upon purchasing a phone, we tell the customer that there is no roaming or long distance, and ALWAYS make customers aware that text messaging is only a PROMOTION and will only be unlimited for 3 months. There are no charges for roaming or long distance. Our brochures, our website clearly state that fact. Let's face it, billing errors occur with every cellular company, things get overlooked, no one is trying to rip off the consumer. I know there is no fee for roaming because Cingular is on GSM technology which is impossible to roam off of. We haven't charged for logn distance in the 3 years that I have been with the company. So you see, if a customer is complaining about a $300.00 charge to their credit card, tell the person to go back to their contracts and paperwork, they signed it.
