This is the exact letter I sent to Mark regarding our situation:
Mark,
I'm sorry you had a problem with your roof, although things happen after 10 years and 4 Hurricanes. When we reroofed your house, we had proper permits and required inspections. The purpose of a dry in inspection is for the inspector to see that no rotted wood was covered and all flashings are installed per code. On the final inspection the Inspector looks the entire job over to see that all roof coverings are properly installed and all flashings are sealed to the roof coverings. I fail to believe that if there was never any chimney flashing installed that 1 my crew men didn't notice it or missed it and 2 that the roofing inspector missed it twice or let it go and 3 that it didn't leak profusely from day one.
If it had not been flashed for 10 years, I have to believe that you would be doing more than putting some kilz on your ceiling. Kudos to the company that repaired it for you, but I dont think they are being totally honest with you ( I'm not going to take the word of a competitor either) about what was done to repair the problem.
Thank You and I hope you can understand my position.
Tim
Now after reading this complaint it is obvious that Mark wasn't even telling the truth about hiring a company to fix the leak, he did it himself and he was trying to get $500.00 out of us for his spending pleasure. I'm sorry but no Contractor comes back after 10 years to fix a leak for free.
I stand behind my employees and my Company 100%.
