So I got a call today August 27th 2012. The woman is in charge of dealing with breach of information basically a Patient Advocate who handles such cases. I explained to her what had happened and the response I got from the woman who I talked to at that clinic. I told her that I wasn't pleased with how the situation was handled. The advocate told me this would be dealt with and the proper people (acting supervisor) will be notified and the person who read the letter out loud would be talked to. I did mention to the advocate that I had no desire to have the woman fired or dealt with in a manner that would ruin her job. I was assured that the woman would not be fired and it would be dealt with properly and professionally. I was very greatful as this situation when it happened reinforced my thoughts that I could not trust the VA and the staff "sweep" such violation under the carpet per say. So far I feel better about this situation. Although I would still be careful on how you deal with receptionists at this clinic as one of them told me there was no supervisor and that they didn't need some one cracking whips on people there. This particular receptionist (that made the cracking the whip comment) has been there the longest and she has shoulder length sandy blond hair and looks to be in her 50's. That comment does make one believe that it is possible there is a click between the staff at the front counter. Maybe I am wrong but be careful when having to deal with such matters. It is good to go directly to the patient advocate in Roseburg VA when such matters are dealt with in a avoidance tone.
