I was starting a new business in promotions and I was offered free e-mail marketing and list rental from Expedite Email Marketing Group's Viet Nguyen in exchange for hanging their banners at one of my events. I should have known that this sounded too good to be true.
I spoke with Expedite's business owner, Viet Nguyen, who told me that they needed my current e-mail subscriber list and that they would add hundreds of thousands of email addresses to it and send out an email blast all over Chicago advertising my upcoming event. They asked lots of questions about my business, and I answered them unsuspectingly. Needless to say, I got ZERO results from this emial blast, and no proof that it ever even went out. But I thought, "who cares, it was free."
A couple of months later, a friend brought to my attention that a website resembling my exact company and my exact website (wording and all) was just launched. After looking into it further, the address and contact info matched that of Expedite Media Group. Interesting! They went so far as to use images and video from my events on their website and passed it off as their own.
A few weeks after this, my family (who was on my subscriber e-mail list that I gave to Expedite) started receiving email blasts from this new promotions company advertising their event (which happened to fall a week before my next event). Viet had been planning to create a promotions company exactly like mine, and used me to get all of my business information and customer contact information. He's a smug, arrogant jerk who just wants to make a quick buck, and starts business after business to achieve this. Does this really sound like a professional, ethical business they are running?? The owner used their employees and services to rip off a customer and start a new competing business in order to make a few bucks. Ridiculous!!
Bottom Line...Do Not Work with Expedite Media Group aka Expedite Emial Marketing aka Expedite Simplicity aka Orange Spot Email Marketing, etc, etc, etc!!! Unless you want your inside business information used against you...not to mention all of the hundreds of reports of them making unauthorized withdrawals from customers' bank accounts and not performing services promised.
