Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
FEDEX COD delivered my merchandise (declared value $1,700) in exchange for a bogus CASHIERS CHECK. A Cashier's check is guaranteed funds backed by the bank, but obviously, if the check is fake, then no bank can back it.

FEDEX OPERATIONS MANAGER, SHERYL MILLS, FEDEX CLAIMS MANAGER, DOROTHY BENNINGTON, the assistant to the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE CALL CENTER, CARY PAPPAS, and BOBBY BURGE, the FEDEX CUSTOMER ADVOCATE, all told me as to why they do NOT request any identification from the person giving them the check, or why FEDEX does NOT check for the WATERMARKS, OR VOID PANTOGRAPHS that are clearly printed on CASHIER'S BANK checks, the answer given to me, to paraphrase, the gist, was "because we are too much in a hurry to check for those things."

I did not pay FEDEX COD extra for their 'SECURE' service to have them carelessly give away my merchandise to someone who gives them something that looks like a check without any identification whatsover.

What protection does the FEDEX COD customer have against FEDEX COD giving away their customer's merchandise in exchange for bogus pieces of paper?

FEDEX refuses to reimburse me for the declared value. FEDEX could have easily seen the "so called check" was fake if they took 2 seconds to check for the watermarks/pantographs, or at least get some form of ID!

I really don't think that many people know about this lack of FEDEX COD security. There seems to be none! How many thousands of people have been robbed by criminals who know that FEDEX COD service does not ask for any ID? At the very least, FEDEX should state this on their website, so the customer is not mislead to how safe there service actually is.

But I can only imagine with the 7 days of runaround given to me by Fedex Reps for the past week of being passed around from rep to rep who did not put me through their security department or managers until i demanded on the 3rd day to be transferred through. And then another 6 days of waiting for Fedex Claims to get back to me, to have to call back again and again and demand to be transferred to Claims, and also have to demand to speak to managers because no one wanted to transfer me. With this lack of cooperation from Fedex, I can easily imagine how many Fedex Customers who have been ripped off by counterfeiters using FEDEX COD, have not followed through on holding Fedex liable for their lack fo collecting "specified instrument" or "cod amount" as stated on their COD Airbill fine print.

Anyone with any information or suggestions on how I can resolve this with Fedex

I already filed a police report with nypd.

and now i am considering suing fedex if they do not hold themselves liable for giving away my merchandise due to the fact they "were in too much of a hurry to check for id or watermarks".

If FEDEX was not able to collect "specified instrument" or "cod amount" then FEDEX was supposed to return the merchandise to me, but they can not, because they already gave it away.

HELP! Other FEDEXCOD fraud victims, STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

Catherine - New York, New York states >fedex does not train their couriers to identify >checks >Fedex does not train its couriers to identify "secure" forms of payment. >it doesn't matter if the fake cashier's check >was printed from someone's inkjet printer, fedex >will accept anything as "secure". >Fedex advertises that they accept "secure" forms >of payment, but according to their Fedex >employee handbook, Fedex does not train them at >all on how to identify the very object they are >collecting. >This is plain FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING. YOU Say they are adversting where? what TV show or newspaper? I have never see any fedex commericals on TV lately heres another suggestion why not sue the PERSON WHO GAVE YOU THE FAKE CHECK INSTEAD OF FEDEX? another thought suppose you did this entire tranascation via the US post office and the same thing happen ? what do you do?

Fedex does not train its couriers to identify "secure" forms of payment. it doesn't matter if the fake cashier's check was printed from someone's inkjet printer, fedex will accept anything as "secure". Fedex advertises that they accept "secure" forms of payment, but according to their Fedex employee handbook, Fedex does not train them at all on how to identify the very object they are collecting. This is plain FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING.

check the fedex cod requlations (found on the fedex website) it states: Checks (including cashier's, official, certified, business and personal checks) and money orders for the C.O.D. amount will be collected at the shipper's sole risk, including, but not limited to, all risk of nonpayment, fraud and forgery. FedEx has no liability with respect to any such instrument. this means fedex is off the hook!

Agree With Rebuttal...not FedEx job

Have to agree 100% with the rebuttal. It not FedEx job to guarantee your scumbag customer's check. If anyone "carelessly" gave away your merchandise it was you. FedEx is a delivery service not a police agency or a bank. Had a customer put his watch($4000)in my shop for a week. After a week he comes, picks it up saying he is going to put it on the internet. Tell him don't do it. He does it anyway. 3 months later a detective calls me saying, someone emailed him, sent him a cashier's check from a NY bank, he sent the watch off. Turns out it was a bogus cashier's check. He had mailed the watch to a Mail Box Etc. The crooks open up a mail box for 30 days under an assumed name, scam numerous people and close up shop and move to another spot. I know this doesn't help you out, but if someone else sees this post it might save them some loss. I know companies that have gotten burnt by longtime customers. It's a tough world out there. You have to protect yourself. It sounds like you were trying your best and still got burnt. I know it sucks. I don't take checks from people I don't know and if I do I send them in for collections and don't give them the merchandise until the check has cleared. Good luck.

Hello this is Texino and I am taking a vacation from my research duties at the stem cell lab in order to work the Christmas rush in the Antipodes for as you may know it's winter in Argentina as we speak. Since I do this every year, I know a lot about the parcel delivery business and I am wondering if others are seeing through Richard's tortured logic, to wit: He has sold something to another person and agreed to take a check. Fed-ex delivered the item and picked up the check for him. Now the check turns out to be a forgery, he feels that the Fed-ex Driver should have acted as his shopkeeper and made the person with the check jump through all these hoops until it was seen that the check was bogus. Of course the delivery service is not liable for this. As a shipper, Richard should have had the customer send the money and not ship until he got this. He could have used Pay-Pal or credit cards or postal money orders. He just got ripped off by some bad guy. Now I ship lots of stuff by Fed Ex and get stuff from them too. When Fed Eddy brings me cases of shellac, I don't have to pay and when I ship my Living Fetal Football Franchises out I just sign a paper. I think the this Lionhearted must have had his brains straddled by a tiger over there in Africa. Well, I am tired of the cold days of July so I'm going home tomorrow. I'll call you when I get home. I think you are complaining to the wrong company that person had mailed you the fake check via the post office WOULD YOU COMPLAIN to the post office that they didnt see the check? I think you file a report with the secerct service instead and plus you can sue the person who sent the fake cashier check to you as well
