Catherine - New York, New York states >fedex does not train their couriers to identify >checks >Fedex does not train its couriers to identify "secure" forms of payment. >it doesn't matter if the fake cashier's check >was printed from someone's inkjet printer, fedex >will accept anything as "secure". >Fedex advertises that they accept "secure" forms >of payment, but according to their Fedex >employee handbook, Fedex does not train them at >all on how to identify the very object they are >collecting. >This is plain FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING. YOU Say they are adversting where? what TV show or newspaper? I have never see any fedex commericals on TV lately heres another suggestion why not sue the PERSON WHO GAVE YOU THE FAKE CHECK INSTEAD OF FEDEX? another thought suppose you did this entire tranascation via the US post office and the same thing happen ? what do you do?

Fedex does not train its couriers to identify "secure" forms of payment. it doesn't matter if the fake cashier's check was printed from someone's inkjet printer, fedex will accept anything as "secure". Fedex advertises that they accept "secure" forms of payment, but according to their Fedex employee handbook, Fedex does not train them at all on how to identify the very object they are collecting. This is plain FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING.

check the fedex cod requlations (found on the fedex website) it states: Checks (including cashier's, official, certified, business and personal checks) and money orders for the C.O.D. amount will be collected at the shipper's sole risk, including, but not limited to, all risk of nonpayment, fraud and forgery. FedEx has no liability with respect to any such instrument. this means fedex is off the hook!

Have to agree 100% with the rebuttal. It not FedEx job to guarantee your scumbag customer's check. If anyone "carelessly" gave away your merchandise it was you. FedEx is a delivery service not a police agency or a bank. Had a customer put his watch($4000)in my shop for a week. After a week he comes, picks it up saying he is going to put it on the internet. Tell him don't do it. He does it anyway. 3 months later a detective calls me saying, someone emailed him, sent him a cashier's check from a NY bank, he sent the watch off. Turns out it was a bogus cashier's check. He had mailed the watch to a Mail Box Etc. The crooks open up a mail box for 30 days under an assumed name, scam numerous people and close up shop and move to another spot. I know this doesn't help you out, but if someone else sees this post it might save them some loss. I know companies that have gotten burnt by longtime customers. It's a tough world out there. You have to protect yourself. It sounds like you were trying your best and still got burnt. I know it sucks. I don't take checks from people I don't know and if I do I send them in for collections and don't give them the merchandise until the check has cleared. Good luck.

Hello this is Texino and I am taking a vacation from my research duties at the stem cell lab in order to work the Christmas rush in the Antipodes for as you may know it's winter in Argentina as we speak. Since I do this every year, I know a lot about the parcel delivery business and I am wondering if others are seeing through Richard's tortured logic, to wit: He has sold something to another person and agreed to take a check. Fed-ex delivered the item and picked up the check for him. Now the check turns out to be a forgery, he feels that the Fed-ex Driver should have acted as his shopkeeper and made the person with the check jump through all these hoops until it was seen that the check was bogus. Of course the delivery service is not liable for this. As a shipper, Richard should have had the customer send the money and not ship until he got this. He could have used Pay-Pal or credit cards or postal money orders. He just got ripped off by some bad guy. Now I ship lots of stuff by Fed Ex and get stuff from them too. When Fed Eddy brings me cases of shellac, I don't have to pay and when I ship my Living Fetal Football Franchises out I just sign a paper. I think the this Lionhearted must have had his brains straddled by a tiger over there in Africa. Well, I am tired of the cold days of July so I'm going home tomorrow. I'll call you when I get home. I think you are complaining to the wrong company that person had mailed you the fake check via the post office WOULD YOU COMPLAIN to the post office that they didnt see the check? I think you file a report with the secerct service instead and plus you can sue the person who sent the fake cashier check to you as well
