FIDM
To Financial director at FIDM , Attn Anna .
My daughter has been accepted to FIDM in early September, 2011 and began attending classes on October 7th,2011 for only two weeks.
Early on, we knew how much the tuition of studying in FIDM would be, and were well prepared for it until we encountered countless unpredicted expenses that were needed in order for MY Daughter to fulfill her life-long dream of studying Interior Design at your school and for that, moving from Israel to Texas than to CA.
a respectful co signer we had , helped us to apply for a student loan as the cost per year at FIDM is 30.000$ a year ! and they allow ONLY 4 payments , not to waist value's time until we get the reply from the bank , we were told my daughter can not start until she pays the first payment , i had to borrow the money and pay so she wont lose any lessons , the amount of $7285 was paid by a good friend .
After two weeks of beginning classes we received a call from Sallie Mae stating that the co-signer was not approved for the loan. Not only have we, as new immigrants to the U.S have endeavored too many tests of faith, courage and endurance, now my daughter have lost her moral and dream of ever graduating from FIDM, not to mention the Visa situation , unless she is immediately being excepted to another college She will have to leave the country and go back to her home land country .
The very next day I Did not wait 1 minute , took day off work and came over to FIDM , we sat down to talk with Christy, Shanees counselor and explained to her the situation at hand. Christy was understanding the situation we are facing and went to Financials to request for refund of 90% AS my daughter was in school for 2 weeks ONLY !!!!!!!
me and My daughter well understood the refund is from the payment we have madee no one ever mentioned any word about the amount of all year , other wise I would never ever would take that loan , or never ever would pay 1 $ if I would to lose sum they I dont really have .
unknowingly they asked my daughter to sign on the spot that a refund will be made to us for 90% signed a document that as far as our understanding Christi said to return 90% of the full amount already paid to the school. So apparently Shanee, which is in her early 20s with no financial knowledge , experience or idea of what she is signing on , we all were in very HIGH STRESS and emotion at Christy office , and Shanee did not sleep the all
night before, we had no idea what so ever that the REFUND would be out of the 30.000$ !!!!!
As her mother, I have never seen, read or came across any financial document from the school and definitely would not have let my daughter sign SUCH a huge responsibility especially due to the fact I am a single MOM.
I would never ask some thing I am not entitle to or that was NOT TOLD ME IN SPECIFIC , I paid first payment , shanee received a bag with some stuff that she would probably never use ..that only descent and honest to be charged for it .
they cheated us LIED to us , AND TRYING TO MAKE PROFIT OF SOME PEOPLE THAT WERE HONEST , DECENT , AND IN STRESS
VICKY .
