Juliet, How wrong you are about credit reports! Over the last few years, I have had 26,19, and 21 negative items removed from my credit reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, respectively. I've even had a bankruptcy removed from my TransUnion report. This is one of the myths the credit unions (private institutions) want everyone to believe. I use the services of Lexington Law Firm, and my credit reports are significantly better. For the record, I have no affiliation with Lexington Law Firm, other than being a satisfied customer. I have noting to gain either personally or professionally by posting this. Please stop perpetuating the myth that you have no control over your own credit reports.

Look at the facts. Nobody will give you a real credit card. So, you agreed to $175 in fees for a card with a $250 limit. Then, you managed to run that up to $420, which means you never paid anything. Stay away from credit. All it will do is cause you more problems. Use cash. Trust me, life will be much easier that way! Don't worry about what they put in your credit report. You won't ever be using it again anyway.

You can't have accurate information removed from your credit report. Just because it's negative, doesn't make it inaccurate. The merchant will be properly reporting that you settled your debt with them for less than the amount you owed. That's truth, it can't be changed.
