FlexJobs is a well known so-called legimate "telecommuting" job search web site which has been promoted by companies and organizations like CNN, Money Magazine, Yahoo Finance and such.  It has been widely promoted as a telecommuting job source that is legitimate because FlexJobs verifies the telecommuting jobs before they are listed.

THIS IS A NEAR TOTAL SCAM.

It costs $14.95 per month and the jobs listed are NOT mostly telecommuting !

I went through about 270 job listings and just about all of them were high level professional jobs as engineers, architects, accountants, teachers, and IT positions that had "flexible" work schedules and not at all true work at home. At best the jobs would require some work at home but all that I  could see were normal jobs working away from home.

This is a near TOTAL scam and fraud.

Do NOT waste your money on this if you are looking for true work at home jobs.

Almost all of the positions require that you live within a certain area and only about 3 jobs out of about 300 were actual work at home jobs such as call center work.  NONE of the jobs listed as "All Telecommuting" other than about 3 call center jobs were work at home such as doing data entry; using Microsoft Office Word / Excel and working on documents at home and similar things. None. Not one. Zip. Zero.

Any business that is a member of the BBB gets its rating based on how much it pays for BBB membership each year. 20/20 had a report about that a while back and you can still find that report on YouTube.

Its all over the internet....warnings...advice...any company that asks you to pay in order to find work is a scam.

I am a consumer with no affliation or reason to recommend FlexJobs other than the following:

My last 3 jobs, all part time, all remote (work from home) were found through FlexJobs. Although the jobs were listing on other sites (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.) the fact that most of the jobs listed on FlexJobs have telecommuting is why I used them to search. I work in Marketing, and my job positions were all in that field. The jobs were the same as if I had gone to work in a branch of the company itself.

The companies who list jobs on FlexJobs choose to hire and work with remote employees so that they can better serve clients across different time zones, keep overhead costs down, and choose from the entire world when they pick an employee. They tend to have great organizational and project management tools, and you communicate via Skype, phone and email.

When looking for a job within FlexJobs, if you use the search functions, you can select the amount of telecommuting you desire (100%, for example) or you can choose a job in your region that will accept telecommuting as an option. They also show you which companies (IBM, for example) are flex-tolerant.

You can also find a number of jobs in your industry by using the keyword search so you don't have to look at all the jobs that are medical coding or writing.

FlexJobs is legitimate, useful and I would recommend it to anyone who wants the flexiblity and the perks of working from home. For example, I'm typing this from my porch, sitting in the sun. About to start working. From home.

For me this kind of job searching behaviour where you have to pay for something most of the people dont get at the end and waste their money is indeed fraud and ripoff. Here is why:

1.- you can say you have the largest database for whatever you say you have, you still dont deliver and you have so much technicalities that at the end the consumer doesnt get their money back. I can hide behind a contract, that is the scam fraud of everyday life and modern times, big companies do and who gets the hammer, the middle class, poor class that expend their few life saving they have looking for an opportunity they never get. Big companies get all the money hidden behind laws and technicalities that are made for them.

2.- Why should I pay for a databse if Im not the company that would have the tools to do a real market analisis? you get millions of people but there arent millions of companies that would use your database. The average people doesnt have the means  or expertise to analize the data so at the end still a ripoff cause most of them wont get anything and will lose their money

3.- If everything has their risk, why dont you take it? instead of charging people in advance why dont you charge them after they  find a real job out of their first pay check? so at the end is the average people risk, not yours.

WHen people get advantage over the average people with this kind of businness models, where those people are not investors, neither companies, but just the average joe that are looking for a job to feed their families or survive in a modern world so this kind of behaviour would be in the average joe a scam or fraud.

So you can place all arguments or facts you want from your business model and none of them arent valid cause we are not investor who wants to take a chance neither companies that could analise your so called database to be effective, we are just common people looking  for a honest way to earn money.

Easy way to solve your problem, first pay check get you pay and this is my idea so do not rip this one off too...

Dear Charles,

Accusing us of being a scam and a fraud is simply without merit.  It is also unfortunate, because rather than falsely accusing us you could simply call or email us we would be happy to help you with either (1) customer support to help you use the site better or (2) to provide you a refund per our Satisfaction Guarantee.  We are still happy to honor the latter if you want to contact our client services at 866-991-9222 or by email.

While your predominant claim against us is that our site is not completely work from home jobs, it seems you may have misunderstood and thought that was exclusively what we do (which is not the case).

In fact, we proudly offer jobs with different kinds of work flexibility (such as freelance contracts, part-time jobs, flexible or alternative schedule jobs), because different flexible options work for different people.  Please take a look at the home page of our website, and you will see that that our biggest copy on the top of the page says, “Find Telecommuting Jobs and other great flexible jobs such as Part-Time jobs and Freelance work.”

Having said that, from my knowledge, we do have the largest job database of legitimate, hand-screened, professional jobs with telecommuting options available anywhere.  Although you said you looked at 270 of our jobs, we do have over 7000 jobs with telecommuting options currently on our site.  I respectfully suggest giving it another try using our Advanced Job Search Options page with the location and industry choices that are appropriate, and then under Telecommuting Level selecting 100% Telecommuting.

Or, please feel look at any of the following links specifically highlight segments of our telecommuting jobs:

As you stated correctly, we are respected by national media outlets and career experts.  In addition to the ones you’ve listed, we have been featured or mentioned as a trusted site in stories such as:

For a more see a more comprehensive list (although still partial) go to our Press, Media, & Reviews page.  We have an “A” rating with the BBB, we are the ONLY job site to have one an Online Trust Leadership Award for Excellence in Consumer Trust, and we are a two time Webby Honoree in the Employment Category, among other awards. You can see these and link to these and others from Awards & Certifications page.

Bottom line: We are in no way or shape the scam or fraud you accuse us of being.

Considering that 99% of job sites are free, our users obviously have an abundance of other options rather than using FlexJobs. So if you use us, we truly want you to be happy with the service you receive.  If you are not satisfied, very simply, contact us and ask for a refund.  Which is what we wish you had done initially, Charles, rather than falsely accusing us.
