Florida Direct, Travel Go Direct Took $149.00 out of my account without my consent Ripoff St. Petersburg !
Same thing happened to me as everyone else. They called phishing and I kinda knew that they were up to something so when they said they were recording the conversation I stated at the beginning and at the end of the conversation that I don't give my consent for them to charge my card. The lady I talked to keep saying that there would be no charge. The only charge that would be applied is the fee to continue the service if I didn't cancel. Still I stated that I didn't give my consent to let them charge my account.
In the deal I was suppose to get the $400 for airline tickets which turned out to be 4 rebates WORTH up to $100 dollars depending how much the ticket was for. They said the package would be shipped overnight so I could check it out and if I wasn't happy after 14 day I could cancel.I got the package a week and half later and after looking at the crappy package I called and canceled. A few day later I was checking my account I saw a shady check that had posted to my account for $149.00 I had know idea what it was so I called my bank. They told me it was from Florida Direct. I made the connection to Travel Go Direct because of the name and called the company.
I called Travel Go Direct and told them that I had canceled and they confirmed it and said they didn't charge me Florida Direct did and to call them. They gave me a different number and told me to call them. I did and they said that I didn't cancel with them. They said that they sent me a package different than the one Travel Go Direct did and that I was suppose to cancel with them as well.
I was like I never even heard of your company so why would I cancel with you when I don't have an account to begin with. They stated that I join with them when I joined with Travel Go and they have it on tape. I remembered that I had specifically said that I don't give my consent so I said play the tape. After a long wait they played the tape. The only thing is they didn't play it from the beginning where I said I don't give my consent and then they cut off the tape before it finished playing where I stated it again. I said play it from beginning to end so he could hear what I said and he refused.
I asked to talk to a manager and thats when he got defensive. He asked my what I wanted to talk to the manager for and I stated isn't that obvious and he refused. We went back and forth for a bit and then he hung up on me. I called back and got someone different and they hung up on me too. I called back a third time and got yet another person and they stated that they had already been over this with me and that I would have to send a request in writing. I was like why would I send a request to a company that I've never heard of before?
I had already talked to my bank and they were on the case so I was just calling to complain about the customer service and they just keep hanging up on me. My bank actually refunded my money so it you catch these guys quick it shouldn't be a problem if you bank is as nice as mine (Banknorth). They are real nice there and they know this company is going down soon.
The way I see it, this company has stolen money from thousand of people and a lot of those people will just let it go or their bank will make them take the hit. It's time to get that money back for them and get something for the trouble that all of us had to go through since they decided to still our money. The other thing is I should be able to shop with my debt card and not have this companies sell my information to other companies. That invasion of my privacy and It's not right cause most people don't even know that it's happening.
