Fotune Global Award Inc. THIS IS A SCAM, DON"T LET THEM GET YOU!! Rochester New York
I recieved a letter form this "Fotune Global Award Inc" stating that I have won a sweepstakes along with 10 other people in North America. The prize was $100,000 and the sent me a check along with this letter made out to me for $2,850.00 from Huntington National Bank in Columbus, OH; the letter address is from Rochester, NY; and the envelope has a post mark on it from Canada.
I called the number located in the letter and I got a message that says,"The number you have reached area code 647-869-8646 has a mailbox that is full, try your call back later", or something like that. So I'm thinking several people all over the world have recieved this letter also.
The only thing I'm confused about is, what will these people benefit from by us cashing these checks? We cash them, spend the money, and have to pay our bank back the fees because the check is probably not valid, right? This check looks so real, I was going to take it to my bank and see what happens until I noticed all the different addresses.
I recieved another scam somewhat like this, but it was a mystery shoppers. That letter was postmarked out of Canada also, but they wanted me to send them a money gram to their agent for half of what the check was. So in that case after I did that, I would have to pay my bank back for the whole check amount plus I'd be loosing money from what I sent to them.
I hope nobody gets caught in this scam and I worry about the elderly especially because their eyesight and things aren't that good so they'll end up cashing the checks and be out a lot of money.
