I ordered a computer on the Internet on January 4th, the computer was supposed to be shipped and arrive on the 16th. It did not arrive on the 16th and I was not informed that it was on backorder for the CD drive, why would a CD drive be on backorder for a company that builds computers. Now the computer was supposed to be shipped and recieved on Feb 5th. On Feb 8th the computer arrived, I assembled the computer and the desktop would not come up, I called tech support and they walked me through all sorts of things to try, after 2 hrs with tech support, I was told that they would have to send a Tech out to my business and replace the hard drive. This was on a Friday, I told them that I needed to have him at my office on Monday, which she said she would set it up and call me right back, which she did not. On Monday, I called and was told that the hard drive would be shipped to me in 5-7 days and then I would have to install it myself. If not, I could pay to have someone install. The computer is for my business and I have waited since Jan 4th, I could have gone to Circuit City, Best Buy or HH Gregg in my city and gotten it on the same day but I thought that I would have it built as I needed certain programs installed for my business. I was told if I sent it back, I would have to pay $140.00 restocking fee. It doesn't work, why should I pay. I had purchased the extended warrantee so I don't know why I have to either install it myself or pay someone to do it. If I bought a dress and the buttons were missing, would they send me some buttons and tell me to sew them on myself? Today is Feb 13th, I have no idea when I will have a computer up and running for my business. I have called Gateway so many times and their custmer service dept doesn't care at all about this problem, in the past 15 yrs, this is the 4th Gateway computer that I have purchased, but the first time I have ordered one from the Internet. This will definitely be my last Gateway, I try to purchase American made product but Gateway shows that this is not always the way to go. I completely understand why the economy is such a mess, when the customer wants to spend money, the company cares very little about them.
