Mervyn's credit department has deteriorated in the last few years to the point it isn't safe (to your good credit) to even have a Mervyn's card. I got a pretty strange call from Mervyn's about an amount due on a bill I hadn't even received yet. It was quite hard to understand what the man from Mervyn's was saying (heavy foreign accent), but his nasty attitude came through loud and clear. I paid the card in full immediately and shredded the card within seconds of hanging up with him. That was about 18 months ago and we no longer shop at Mervyn's at all. I assume Mervyn's will keep up the bad work and will shortly join Montgomery Ward in the list of businesses that used to exist. Good riddance!

but Mervyn's wasn't even with GE money bank til maybe 2005. It was retailers national bank before that. i've worked for this store for over 10 years, and after we switched, i've heard nothing but complaints. I know nothing about bankruptcy, and very little about credit card companies, but my question is: why are people who closed their accounts in the 90's, having problems with this stupid company that didn't even handle our cards until just a year and a half to 2 years ago?! i know that ge re-issued cards to people when they took over to drum up more business...is that why?

Mervyns just showed up on my credit report after 11 yrs as a negative. It was paid in full the same thing just happened to my friend. They told her it was an error. How many errors did they make since they were sold 2 yrs ago. How many peoples lifes are they going to screw up before we fight back with aclass action law suit.
