I went in for a rhinoplasty on December 9, 2010. It was supposed to last approximately 1-2 hours. It lasted 6 hours and I awoke three very painful times. The first time was when my nose was broken. The second time I threw up a bowl of dark blood. The third time Dr. Timothy Gillum was stitching my nostril. When I awoke the next day, I realized I had staples in my forehead. Dr. Gillum had given me an eyebrow lift without my consent. The scars are barely in my hairline and are very thick. My nose collapses on the left side when I am exercising.
Dr. Gillum hasn't released my medical records to the Indiana Attorney General despite them requesting it. He hasn't released it to the plastic surgeon I've consulted to try to fix this disaster. I've retained an attorney who said she will subpoena the records if she has to. Dr. Gillum prescribed me Lexapro and told me to take down my mirrors to help cope with the disastrous results. I quit taking the Lexapro after it made me feel REALLY down. When I pointed out the asymmetry in my nostrils to Dr. Gillum, he suggested cutting the nostril that wasn't collapsed & pulling it in to match the collapsed nostril. Plastic surgeons I've consulted with said there is no support for the tip and that is why it has collapsed. I was told I'll need rib graft to make up for how much cartilage Dr. Gillum removed. I've been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from this nightmare. My therapist agrees my nose needs to be fixed, as well as the scars in my hairline. I suffered from numbness on the top of my scalp, tingling in my forehead, and headaches for over a year after the surgery. I've spoken with Dr. Gillums nurses on the phone, but not him in over a year. He was sanctioned for having cocaine in his system less than a year ago. Waking up three times during the surgery was the most painful, uncomfortable thing I've ever experienced in my life. The disastrous results are cause for daily emotional anguish.
