On the night of October 10th, 2015 my friends were booked to stay in the Sheldon at the Grand Center Inn on their wedding night. Upon their arrival in their wedding finery they were shown their room, upon further investigation they came to the realization that this was not the room they booked. The bride contacted the Inn and was told that the people who had been in the Sheldon had decided to stay another night and so they had been moved.
The Inn’s website reserves the right to move guests, it also states that it will inform them of the change. Now when the couple decided to stay an extra night and the Inn agreed to move my friends, it is at that moment that they should have been called and informed of the change. This would have allowed them the choice of agreeing to the change or going somewhere else. The Inn did not do this, the failure to act was incredibly unprofessional and also a breach of trust. Furthermore when they arrived, they were not informed of the change and left to discover it on their own.
They both took showers to try and relax, but being so upset by the underhanded room swap and the TV noises coming through the door of the neighboring room (this was quite downgrade), they came to the realization that this would not be the intimate, wonderful wedding night they were looking forward to. So they checked out, upon check out they were told that since they used the bathroom they would not be getting a refund. Online the Sheldon is going for $169 assuming 15% tax that’s $194 for two showers!
