Hale 'O Ha'o, on their website they mislead you into believing the house is oceanfront Ripoff Kapolei Hawaii
In March 05 I went online looking for a house or condo on the north shore of Oahu to rent for a vacation. I thought I had found the best one. I booked it and sent them the money.
The website used phrases like, near beach, beach in front of our house, view to the left, view to the right, our beach. The welcome packet they sent us with the combination to the lock box stated that it was located on the mountain side of the road. Ok, I have previously rented where the beach and the ocean are on one side of a street and the house is on the other, so this did not raise a warning flag to me. Imagine our shock when we found the house, pulled in and parked and turned around to look at the beach in front of the house and found a row of houses.
The beach was not only across the street, but it was on the other side of the houses, with no access unless you crossed the street and walked several hundred feet to either the left or the right. I was in tears, I was so disappointed. I was angry, because I felt ripped off. I was embarassed because I had already been recommending it to others sight unseen.
The house itself was pretty much as described either on the website or in the welcoming letter. There were a few things that were unusual. The biggest problem we had was the location.

Have you contacted the owner with your complaint? How can they attempt to make things better if you haven't let them know you're unhappy with the rental? Upon looking at the website (http://www.haleohao.com/pictures.html) for this home, I see phrases such as "The beach across the street from this house ..." and "Please note: There are no views of the ocean from this house" This house is "at" the beach. It's just not "on" the beach. I suggest you contact the owner and see what they will do. It certainly is an expensive rental, but nowhere on the site does it claim that the home is on the sand.
