Hertz Monitoring & Research Group-Division Of Hertz Advantage Solitation for a job as Mystery Shopper Oklahoma City Oklahoma
Today I received a very official looking letter with an enclosed check for $3996.00. The deal was that they are offering me a job as a Mystery Shopper at a weekly rate of $500.00 . For my test assisgment, I am to shop ($100) at Walmart, K-Mart, Best Buy etc and to send funds of $3226.00 via MoneyGram or Western Union (with $170 service charge reimbursement also included).
I did not deposit the check (nor will I), I did not contact the person named in the letter. I immediately went to this site and googled Mystery Shopper scams. This certainly smells like a scam...postmark is from Canada while return address is Oklahoma. Also, on the "Customer Service Evaluation Tool" provided to fill out the report from the shopping experience...no blank was provided for the name/address of the store I chose to shop.
What I have read is that the check is bad. After I deposit it and send the $3226 to the person named via Western Union...I get stuck with the tab on the overdrawn funds and potential legal ramifications. Don't be tempted!
