This is a call to all companies that decide to make a living off of others' mistakes,Specifically HFC Retail Services and CompuSmart for employing them. I bought a computer last year at CompuSmart in Toronto. I couldn't afford to pay for the computer right away, so they offered me a credit card payment plan (through HFC Rretail Services) "Pay no interest and no money down for 6 months" Well I'll have the money in 6 months no problem, I thought to myself. Well in that 6 months I lost my job, and had a really hard time paying rent, let alone a computer with a 88.8% interest rate, thanks to HFC Retail Services. So, I tried to tell CompuSmart about this situation and said that I would return my computer and that is all I can do, I have no money and there is no way I'll be able to pay you. They didn't even give a d**n, they instantly reffered me over to HFC Retail Services. I phoned them and told them my perdicament. they said that they were a financial institution and they want their money. After months of convincing myself that I wouldn't have to pay and they would just go away. I got a call from Michelle at HFC Retail Services with threats to send a baliff to my house and sueing me, and on and on about go to my work place and stalling my wages. I told her that my intention was to pay, but the balance on my credit card has gone to almost $3,000 CDN(for a computer that probably costs about $500 CDN) and I couldn't afford to pay with interest rates as high as 88.8%!! She yelled at me and told me to pay or else! So I borrowed some money from some friends and wrote a check for $2,229.32, but I wrote 2001 instead of 2002 on the check. So, when recieving the notice I sent a new one with the correct address on it. thinking that they would be reasonable about it and not charge me a late payment fee. NOPE!! I was wrong to think that there are honest people out there. They called me 5 days after the due date (to ensure that they would get some more $$ out of me) and told me that the balance had goen up to $2,296.. or something like that and that I would need to write a check for that amount. Well, I told them that that was rediculous and that I would never pay them anything ever again. I wrote a check for the final payment. there should be no problem. they should take into account that I just payed them and that my intentions are honest and I don't feel that I should have to pay $60.00 for a mistake that they should have called me about immediatly so that we could settle it right away. But they weren't thinking reasonably at all. they were thinking "hmmmm how can we weasle another $2,000 off this poor person. Let's phone her after the due date and send the check back late, so there is no way that she can pay before the due date." SCUM! HFC Retail Services, if you or CompuSmart is reading this, make it understood that I am not paying another dime to your company and I will make sure that other people like me find out about this. I will run you to the ground!! I am also creating a website for people to talk and dicuss these issues and hopefully someday there will be class action against these Financial Companies. JERKS! Thank you for this wesite, it has given many people a voice.

holy cow... I was with Compusmart for 14 months between the South Edmonton Common Store and recently in the Downtown location, where I was promoted to Business Consultant. There is really no rip off here except you. You see people like you are the reason why interest rates are high. You see now not only did you not pay for this machine, you have also not paid HFC which paid Compusmart the money which in turn paid your solutions provider for the wonderfull service he did for you, so that means HFC is out the money which means they must get that money back somehow. How?? by raising interest rates. My suggestion for you would be to find a job and learn how to keep it. Oh and don't forget to pay your HFC bill, i'm sure your sales consultant would greatly appreciate that.

I work for CompuSmart in a store located in BC. I really like working there. I could't help but respond to your complaint Mary... I sell alot of computers at CompuSmart. In fact, I have been the #1 Sales person for many months. I also sell a lot of computers with the in-store credit card. If you are too stupid to not make payments, that is not my problem. People like you really wear me out. I have had a bunch of customers complain about the interest rates being too high - it is not my problem either. We are paid on commission. How am I supposed to collect a cheque when people like you "use" our products, and then return them - geez. Give your head a shake. As a result, you have decided to post complaints about CompuSmart on this web site. I am glad nobody else responded to your pitiful story. I don't consider your threat of never shopping in our store a problem. You, and people like you never pay your bills, and are better off waiting in line at soup kitchens instead of buying computers anyway. There is no free ride baby.
