Avoid this man and this company at all costs, lies to your face warning he is Jehova Witness wonder why they come to your house after you are in your HOmes by Herb, cause he sends them. This guy is a jerk, a fraud, is predjudice, a *with no backbone and will not do you right. Proceed with caution and be prepared to be screwed. Wonder why no windows match or you have no screens well when you buy sescods and pass them off as firsts thats why and when you meet his lovely b* of a bride stand back remember the space ship is only taking a few of them back to the mother land and all the rest of us are going to die and she sure thinks she is on it. absolute worst experience of my life and the most uneducated backwards fraudulant couple you could ever deal with. stay away or be prepared to get massively screwed.

I have read both of the reports of complaint by a disgruntled buyer posted in Dec of 2014 and Jan of 2015. I notice there are some issues mentioned in those reports that are redundent and clearly "not the case" with respect to our purchasing experience with Mr. Manning. I share that in this note.
After searching existing listings for 3 years, my wife and I decided to have Herb build our home. We ran into him while he was doing the Forest Park addition. We wanted a NG gas line to the residence for water heating, dryer, stove, fireplace etc. Herb showed us a lot on Pond Rd. 15 minutes later, we had agreed to a price and build. Please bare in mind, this was not a tract home, it was designed by Herb and our needs, right down to the soffit lighting on the exterior, NG gas line to the back deck for my BBQ, specific appliances my wife requested, additional 3rd garage and it's location with heat and air, all the fixtures were hand picked by us etc. Getting the picture? He even went with granite in bathrooms, with glass bowls.
Problems? Minor, as with any new construction. I was working in KCMO at the time and only down for weekend. We wanted walk in closests in all bedrooms with a single 36 inch door instead of the double pull outs. I noticed that needed corrected on one of my weekend visits down. The following weekend, IMMEDIATELY corrected and "done right" not horseshoed. Even the closets have heat/air. Crown molding in master needed fixed. Done within a week. We had a drainage issue in the backyard with a 3 foot retainer wall. A slush box connected to the existing drainage field resolved it completely.
Herb is a "gentleman" to both men and women alike. He is a quiet and soft spoken person and has family values. I respected the fact that he starts early and "calls it a day" at 3pm to pick up his children from school, to be with them. His sub contractors "listen" and more importantly, make sure things are done as the buyer requests. They quietly informed me that Herb is an incredible person to work for. As for visits by LDS? Yes, we have had some. They have been "low pressure and polite" with our time. Well groomed upon visiting and non threatening.
Our home was built in 2008, so it's been 7 years now, more than enough time to see the true "results", and frankly, we are very happy with it. We "got" what we "expected". Actually, I just contacted him today to request a bid to enclose our back deck area to match the existing home's exterior.
I am truly sorry you feel the way you do. My best guess is, you have an overpowering personality and that closed Herb down emotionally. How does the saying go? "You get more bees with honey than vinegar?
