Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We entrusted our family cuckoo clock with this business (that is run-out of his home) to return it into working condition. The owner of the business told us he would replace the bellows, the gears, and would look at the music box. After he had taken a good look at the music box with his head-piece, he had told us it was made of very high-quality steel parts. After months of us calling him to find-out what the status was on the clock, he continued to give us the run-around about how it's taking longer than he thought and how he gave our music box to a friend to look at. We told him that all original parts removed from the clock were to be returned to us and that they had better be with the clock when we picked-it-up.

As days, weeks, and months continue to pass, we finally called him to demand our cuckoo clock back. Upon entering his home to retrieve our clock, we immediately noticed that he had someone else's pendulum on our clock, our dancing figurines were missing, the clock was not cleaned, and cuckoo clock weights were missing. He then grabbed a music box from which he told us was the one he removed from our clock and that he was unable to repair. The original music box in this clock had no plastic parts yet the one he was showing us did. After looking at the other weights he put on the clock, we then asked him where the other clock weight was from which he then randomly grabbed one off from his piles of parts and handed it to me. The weight was larger and did even remotely look like the others. I then asked him to produce the original weight from which he was unable to. While we did get our dancing figurines back, they were not reinstalled onto the clock. Furthermore, he had lost a gear on the bottom of one figurine from which no longer works.

When we returned home and looked at the clock even further, we had noticed that he completely changed the gear-box out and had not given us that original as well. We had then realized he had only installed a gear box that would handle two cones and not the amount that it was originally built for. Our clock is now worth less than it was before taking it in not to mention the parts of the clock that we will never get back. This was a most unpleasant experience and we highly recommend that you look for Cuckoo Clock repair somewhere. We are both working professionals and had expected the same out this person. Unfortunately, it was FAR from professional.

This complaint is factually inaccurate. There were a number of parts missing, gears were stripped, etc. The clock was mechanically damaged. The delay happened because we were in the process of seeking repair parts from friends on the internet, machining new gears, etc. because the original manufacturer of the music box was no longer in business We explained the delay early on. The customer demanded to pick up the clock anyway in whatever condition it was in. I gave them a substantial discount from the quoted price, but they demanded much less than even the reduced price. After many accusations, they walked out with the clock without paying for anything. I called the Clearwater Police. The responding officer was ready to arrest them for theft of services. They even lied to the officer that I agreed to waive all charges which makes no sense. Why would I call the police if we agreed there would be no charge. The officer negotiated with them to pay close to the reasonable price we asked for the work that we did (we replaced the works with a new movement). The officer confirmed that these people did not respond to reason. We are very grateful that the officer prevented this conflict from escalating. We have encountered customers before who manufacture complaints in order to obtain a free clock repair. We have earned an excellent reputation from hundreds of customers. On the outside chance that someone deeply cares about the details of this incident, they are free to call the Clearwater, Florida Police Department at 727-562-4242 and read the officer's report, Incident No. 091810-00185, Sept. 18th, 2010.
