I am attending Medical Billing/Coding studies at Iverson and am still trying to figure out why students are attempting to learn ICD-10 on their own when it won't be in the field until 2013-2014. At this point no one can even submit claims for payment to the government or insurance company for payment; nor will the certification exam be on ICD-10. The teachers get upset when you bring things to their attention and/or lie stating they will look into it. You never hear from their findings. It is like as long as they keep receiving financial aid they are happy but what about the students? The students are paying for the livelihood of the staff and teachers with our financial aid but not getting what we have to repay our student loans for. The teacher for billing wrote down the answers to the review for Chapters 1 & 2 as students called them out. We had a staff person and a graduate student visit the class in an attempt to teach billing and coding. The staff person admitted not knowing either subject but would do the best she could.
