Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We purchased a used Frigidare refrigerator that was repiared by Ivy's. We had them deliver it to our storage unit because we would not be moving into our new house for a month. The owner said there was a 30 day warranty on the fridge which was unfortunate due to it being in storage the entire warranty time. Once we moved it into our new house it worked fine for about 3 or 4 days until the temp started to go up in the fridge.

We moved into our house on a Tuesday, and by Saturday it was not cooling the fridge. The digital thermostat just said "HI" on saturday night, and it was beeping. We moved all our perishible items into the freezer due to it actually working, and went to bed. Ivy's is closed on sundays, so we contacted a local repair service that was open. A tech came out, and found that the coils were freezing, which blocked the air flow to the fridge. After replacing every replaceable part the fridge still froze up.

My wife contacted Ivy's to let them know what was up, and they said they would come have a look. The owner replaced another couple parts, but the fridge still would not work. We paid 500 for the fridge, and he offered us 200, and said we voided the warranty by having someone else work on it. Of course there were no warranty terms provided to us, no documentation, so he basically is making up the terms on the fly. He also said we could bring him the fridge and he would give us 400 which he knew we could not do because we don't have a vehicle capible of transporting it, and my wife is a disabled vet that cant lift more than 20 lbs. We werent looking for him to compensate us for the repair costs we had to pay for, just to take the fridge back, and give us our money back. He said he knew the fridge was going into storage, and would still warranty it, but once it was apparent it was unfixable he back peddled.

He stated that the fridge had been hooked up in their store for two weeks, and worked fine, but when we initailly inquired about the fridge the day before we bought it we were told it had just been put on the floor. We filed with the BBB about it, and the ownder lied, and said he offered to exchange the fridge for another one which he did not do.

Buyer beware, this company does not stand by their product!

1. Yes we took 200 because it was either 200 or nothing.

2. Owner knew we had no way to bring the fridge back due to only having a small car, which is why they delivered it to storage.

3. There was no fridge in stock even close to the amount of the fridge we had, only ones that were at least 500 bucks more than we had already paid, and we had no interest in buying another dud.

Ivy's Appliance received a call the first week of August 2015 about a problem on a refrigerator that we sold our customer on May 26, 2015 (long after the warranty expired). I was informed by the customer that they had called another technician out (not Ivy's Appliance) to try to fix the refrigerator (thus voiding any warranty with Ivy's Appliance if the warranty had still been active). I then informed the customer that they should have called us first with any issue they had on the refrigerator. The customer then informed me that the service technician had replaced the control board. ( Note: We had already replaced the control board costing us 100.00 before the customer purchased the refrigerator). As a courtesy, I informed the customer that I would still come check the refrigerator out ( so i did, twice). The refrigerator  was in perfect working condition on our show room floor with no issues before it was purchased by the customer. I spent time trying to fix a prblem even though I was working behind another technician and not aware of what all was worked on. I then spoke to the customer and gave them 3 options:

1.) Refund the customer 200.00  and the  customer  keep the refrigerator.

2.)  Bring the refrigerator back and refund the customer 400.00  or...

3.) Replace the refrigerator with a different refrigerator.

The customer agreed to be refunded the 200.00

Ivy's Appliance has a 30 day warranty on all appliances and the customer was notified of such warranty.

We feel like we went above and beyond to resolve the issue fairly by going to the residence to  try to fix the refirigerator, by

giving the customer the options and by refunding money considering the warranty had expired. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
