Jackson Custom Building Inc- Sarasota Fl Thomas Jackson This company was definately a wrong choice for me Sarasota Florida
I made a huge mistake and contracted with this company to complete concrete work on a new construction home in Sarasota county. It was nothing but trouble from the start.
The arrogant owner, Thomas Jackson acted as if they had the experience to complete this work. But that was not the case.
Hius superintendent did not know how to read the drawings, thereby creating extra expense with the architect. Approximately three months was wasted on this for nothing.
After getting forms in place, and having recieved two progress payments, Thomas Jackson came to me with a request for an additional $13,000 above the contracted amount. I asked for an explanation but the only one he could give was that the plans were wrong.
Both the architect and engineer disregarded and laughed at Jackson's attempt to extort extra money because of his supposed claim that the drawings were wrong, and required extra steel. $13,000 worth of steel? Amazing! Eventually another contractor completed the work, fully approved by the architect, engineer, state and county inspectors, without any supposed missing steel. In other words, exactly per the plans.
Thus Thomas Jackson's request for an additional $13,000, either shows his incompitence, or was a blatent attempt at extortion.
Consequently, Jackson pulled his workers from the job, creating a several month delay. I had to higher another contractor to finish at a higher price.
Jackson also recieved money in advance for work yet to be performed, and did not pay his subcontractor from my progress payments, causing a lien to be placed on the property. Consequently I had to pay that subcontractor again.
What a nightmare. I have spoken to at least two other people who had a similar attempt by him to gain additional money beyond the contract. These are the facts.
