I contacted Jay Systems to purchase a few cash drawers. I contacted Jay himself and asked him about compatability and suggested models.
The exact in for from the e-mail Jay sent:
See www.jaysystems.com, Products, Cash Drawers, Model 130 USB Cash Drawer. We have delivered many units to developers who just connected the drawers and proceeded with our auto install software. See the description of our software in the listing. None have had to do any extensive special programming.
We have a complete line of printers to be released within the next 60-days, but not available sooner; thermal printers 58mm, 80mm with parallel, serial, usb, ethernet, wifi, blue tooth interfacing fpr pos terminals & dot matrix 76mm with parallel, serial, usb, ethernet interfacing for kitchen printers.
We recieved the drawers, opened one and instaleld it on a machine. We had a blue screen of death and crashed the system.
Before contacting Jay we tried it on another machine and had the same issue.
We contacted Jay and he told us that this never happens and he does not know what to tell us.
We tried another cable and the unit started working.
We tried using the drawer in our software and it would not work. We contacted Jay and he said to send a copy of the code and he would have his developer take a look at it.
We did not hear anything back from him.
I could not wait any longer and decided to get an RMA number on these and ship them back. I paid the shipping back, packed them well and did not recieve a refund. I contacted Jay through ebay where they sell a lot of these and he told me there was a 20% restocking fee.
I told him the original problem was defective hard ware and he did not want to hear it.
He insisted he wasnted his 20% restocking fee.
Be very careful buying from this company. The Jay POS cash drawers are junk. They may be cheaper than others but you get what you pay for.
In this case it cost me 100.00 to find out that Jay systems cash drawers are junk.
