Beware of Jeremy Lee DBA, posing as an "honest independent mechanic". I ran across Jeremy who claimed that he was an "ASE Master Certified" Technician who could save me a lot of money to repair my car. He claimed that he left his last job as a Service Manager/Master Mechanic because he was being asked to do "unethical work" by ownership, which he refused to do - and that is why he decided to open his own independent shop located on the same property as his residence.
He offered to provide a lender vehicle (a 20 year old beat up red GMC pick up truck). He told me that the fuel pump on my car to be replaced, as well as the radiator and spark plugs. I asked him to change the oil and filter as well. He gave me a breakdown of prices (parts/labor) and displayed what a Local Authorized Dealership had quoted, as well as a Local Independent Repair Shop. The savings he proposed were significant enough for me to leave my car at his "shop" and take his old, filthy pick up truck.
This was on Friday March 15th 2012. I was told that the car would be finished the following day. After no word on saturday afternoon, he proceeded to tell me that the car was torn apart - however, that he was unable to get the parts that he needed for the repair. He promised that it would be done midday on monday - that he would have everything else repaired before then, so that he could quickly get the fuel pump and have everything complete monday morning. Monday - same story! He would not answer his phone all day - finally - received a call back early evening apologizing.
He was "backed up" with other customers vehicles and promised the car would be ready Tuesday morning. Tuesday, same story again! By this time, I was about to report the car stolen, and just wanted to drop off his POS Pickup and get my car off his property. He called late afternoon and said that he had replaced the radiator, fixed the anti-freeze leak, changed the oil, and that he still needed to complete the fuel pump - (reason that engine was flooding and car would not start after turning off ignition for at least 30 min.) I thanked him for his help, and told him that I would be down to pick the car up immediately, and that he could fix the fuel pump another time.
When I went to pick the car up - he had it running at the end of the driveway - and again verified that everything else had been fixed. He asked when I could bring the car back. When I indicated that I was just going to have the fuel pump issue repaired at the dealership he became extremely upset and irate, telling me that I was going to get "ripped off".
I had agreed to pay cash because he was a "new shop" without merchant processing ability, and reminded me of the savings on what he had already done - including only charging me for the parts at "his cost". He took payment, and told me that he would bring back my receipt, including receipts for the parts. He came out of the "shop/garage" and apologized that his computer was down, and that he would have to e-mail me everything. While frustrated, I just wanted to get in my car and get out of what I felt was a really shady situation - at least, I thought, I received some needed repairs for a pretty good price.
A few days later I noticed my car was running worse than before! The engine was loosing power, and anti-freeze started leaking again. I brought the vehicle to an authorized dealer that I had already contacted to complete the repairs that Jeremy couldn't. After the car was in a professionals hands, having told them what had already been repaired, I was shown that NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE!!!! Dirty oil, old oil filter, and the same old cracked radiator! They showed me where he had done a "quick fix" on the anti-freeze leak which would have only been effective for about 24 hours. Additionally - the car DID NOT EVEN NEED A NEW FUEL PUMP!! The problem was a simple engine lubrication issue!
So, after $700.00 cash - and five days with my car Jeremy Lee had repaired nothing!!! No new radiator, no new spark plugs, he didn't even change the oil!! I also checked the odometer and found that he had placed over 300 miles on the car! I called and confronted him. He started swearing at me and hung up on me before I could ask for some type of resolution. I left him a message demanding a refund, after which, he began texting crude messages. I instructed him to immediately stop contacting me, letting him know that I would be reporting him as a fraud.
If you run across Jeremy Lee, of "Jeremy Lee DBA". He'll go on about his integrity, qualifications, and how everyone needs to know a good, honest mechanic like him, but please, Run the other way! Do not leave your car at his shady shop, I can't believe that I ever did! He's less qualified than a lube tech at the local used tire shop! He's nothing but a SCAM ARTIST AND A THEIF!!!
