Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We worked for John and Toni most of the time they do not know what the hell they are doing. They always have some reason they cant pay you on time and ask you to wait a few days. Then after you wait they try to tell you that they have paid you and you must be making a mistake. They work for the Chicago Tribune they get paid and paid well. They even sold us a car and then when we would not work for them anymore they came to get it saying we had missed some payments. When in fact they took the payments out of our pay.

This email is in response to the libelous unfounded accusations submitted by Ron Bell to this website. Ron Bell and his life-partner, Jay, did work for us briefly, less than 3 months. They were hired to deliver newspapers to businesses in the Indianapolis area. There were numerous problems from the start, but since Jay was related to family and friends of ours, we probably tried harder than we should have to work with them. We gave verbal as well as written instructions but neither worked. We also tried just telling them to call Toni anytime with any question, but that didn't work. Yes, they were confused, but it wasn't due to lack of training on our part. And it wasn't because we didn't know what we were doing. We just couldn't find a way to get them to understand what to do or, more specifically, we couldn't find a way to get them to remember from day to day what they were supposed to do. Newspaper delivery isn't brain surgery so the instructions are really simple as has been proven time and time again with others we've trained. They received their pay weekly, and most weeks received cash advances for gas, cigarettes, etc The only delay in their pay was when they did not show up on payday to work which is when they would pick up their pay. However, they were paid the very next day they showed up to work. Oversleeping was a major problem for them on a regular basis. These account for the only days for which they didn't receive pay and that was because they did not show up for work. They didn't seem to understand you have to show up for work and do your job to be paid. Because of their failure to be on time and deliver to every business, we lost a lot of sales that we did not get back once they were gone. Because their log sheets were turned in at the end of the week, we wouldn't know until too late that they didn't actually work when they said they were working. They didn't seem to understand if they didn't deliver the newspapers, then we don't sell any newspapers, and as a result no one makes any money. Due to their medical problems, relationship problems and a multitude of various other problems, Ron stopped showing up for work first, then Jay. Neither one called us or would answer our calls to see if they were working. Sometimes they did actually pick up the papers but didn't deliver any of them. At their request, we did attempt to let them buy a 1996 Escort on contract October 6th, 2008 for $500.00 with the agreement that the weekly payment of $50.00 would be deducted from their pay until paid in full. We tried to work with Jay during his relationship problems with Ron by reducing the weekly payment until he could get caught up. When he didn't show up for work or call or answer our calls or return our voice mails or reply to our emails, we drove to their home on December 3rd, 2007. After knocking repeatedly on the door and calling their phones, no one would answer even though both of their vehicles were in the driveway. We then left a copy of the Termination of Contract / Notice of Repossession dated 12/03/07 with a note asking Jay to please contact us right away so we could discuss this matter. It was at this time that we took possession of the vehicle. The vehicle had been driven 6,341 miles while in their possession, the check coolant and low fuel lights were on and the oil was 2 qts low at that time. They had agreed in the contract to service and maintain the vehicle, that was not done. Jay had also had an accident in the vehicle and was at fault for the accident. Upon notification of the accident, my insurance company advised us that they would pay the claim but wouldn't continue coverage on it because of the contract sell. They told us so we immediately told Jay that he would have to get his own policy, since it was Thanksgiving weekend my insurance agent wrote a binder for Jay for coverage until Jay could contact him on the following Monday. I gave Jay the name and phone number but they advised he did not call. Since Jay didn't answer my emails or phone calls to verify he did get coverage somewhere, the vehicle could not be driven due to liability. When Jay did finally contact us much later, he did not make arrangements to pay the balance of $300.00 due so his personal property from the vehicle was returned to him and he returned the vehicle keys to us. At that time, the contract termination was final. Other than some weird, somewhat threatening emails that didn't really make any sense and some other harassment from Ron, we had no further contact with either of them and foolishly thought our problems with them had come to an end. We don't appreciate it when people who cause their own problems and unhappiness make false statements about us. They seem to want to blame someone else for their self-created misery. We both work hard everyday and don't have time for this. However, we felt we needed to respond one last time to their bogus accusation.
