Complaint Review: Jumping Jack Cash - Lakewood Colorado

JUMPING JACK CASH OR "JUMPING JACK YOUR A**" AS I LIKED TO CALL THEM I WORKED FOR THIS COMPANY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND I WATCHED AS THE OWNER HAS BECOME A MONEY HUNGRY BLOOD THIRSTY b*****d IN THIS BUSINESS IF I WERE A PERSON NOT A CRACKHEAD, OR METHHEAD AND JUST A PERSON WHO NEEDED A LOAN FOR A BAD SITUATION I GOT MYSELF INTO I WOULD NOT USE THIS MONEY HUNGRY SOMETIMES SKETCHY BUSINESS PRACTICES. WHAT THIS GUY TODD HILLS "PRESIDENT" OF JUMPING JACK CASH TEACHES HIS MANAGERS IN THIS BUSINESS IS P.I.M.P. OTHERWORDS PROFIT IN MY POCKET. THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE FOR THIS MAN. THE EMPLOYEES DO NOT DEMONSTRATE GOOD WORK ETHIC AND DO NOT TAKE AS GOOD CARE OF YOUR ITEMS THIS IS COMING FROM A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN TAUGHT THE WAY THAT THIS COMPANY DOES BUSINESS. THIS IS WHY I DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY ANYLONGER BECAUSE MY CONSCIOUS WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SLEEP AT KNOWING THE WAY THAT THIS MAN DOES BUSINESS. THERE SYSTEM IS A RIPOFF AND DOES NOT LOAN NEARLY AS MUCH ON ITEMS AS ANYONE ELSE IN THIS PARTICULAR CITY. WORD TO THE WISE STAY AWAY FROM "JUMPING JACK CASH"

I don't understand why the police did nothing about this. A friend of mine's ex-husband is a druggy (tweeker). He broke into his parents house and stole a few things for drug money. He pawned them and is sitting in jail right now for the theft and for providing false information on a pawn ticket, as there is a small line you have to fill out that askes how long YOU have OWNED this property.

On a couple of points in your posts: 1. Why would YOU have to tell the Pawn shop it was stolen if the police had already seized it? 2. How DID you locate the computer? THEN notify the police? 3. How was it a case of he said/she said unless you were still letting your "friend" stay with you? 4. Why didn't YOU buy it back if you needed it so badly?

Seams to me that lots of you were pretty quick to crucify me and even ignored most of what I wrote in order to get some jabs in on the side of a pawn shop. Little does anyone know that this pawn shop is more like a mega-pawn shop. It is a place where families go on Sundays to shop for cheap electronics, jewelry, power tools, etc... It's actually a respectable place. If you read my report, where it says that I notified police, perhaps I should have made it more clear but when you notify police and they actually go to the pawn shop and seize the property, it is implied that a police report was filed. As far as hanging out with druggies, I would not have had the person in my house had I known that to be the case. As far as backups being on the same computer, I never said this. I said the backups were stolen too. They were in a fire-proof lock box along with some other articles which were stolen. I don't know what some of you people are reading but it is obviously not what I wrote. Either that or the average comprehension skills of those that replied to this report are seriously deficient. How do you people read so much into such a simple story? Why do you assume I am an idiot? A known drug addict? Where does it say this thief was a known drug addict? The pawn shop had no way of knowing the computer was stolen? Yes, they did - I told them, I pleaded with them. According to Colorado Revised Statues, if a pawn shop knowingly sells an item that could even possibly be stolen, they are breaking the law. You people are seriously cruel. All I did was let a friend who was down on his luck stay at my house for a few weeks. There were many laws broken here and to tell me that I deserved this is just pathetic. I followed all the rules, went out of my way to offer some assistance and got screwed by a pawn shop that owns no less than 5 stores in the vicinity, calls itself 'world famous' and had every chance to make me an offer but instead erased the data within hours after getting the computer back from the police. Shame on you people, how low does it need to go?

Last place, a jewelry store, I worked, we use to buy jewelry over the counter. Now I don't know if it's the same in CO, as it is in TX, but I suspect it is. When a person comes in to sell something at a pawn shop or jewelry store, they are required, BY LAW, to fill out certain paperwork that says they are the rightful owner and can sell it. The paperwork also requires a TX DL or ID and SSN. Every couple of years or so the police would come looking for something but it was rare. What was more common, was when a relative would come looking for a piece of jewelry that their relative, usually their kid, had sold, that the kid had stolen. I always got a kick out of these. I told the parents I'd be more then glad to sell them, their piece of jewelry, for what I had paid for it. Most parents would pay the price. A few would refuse. I'd said fine. To get your piece of jewelry back, for free, YOU are going to have to go down to the police dept. and file theft charges aganist YOUR kid. He'll be arrested, booked and you'll have to bond him out. YOU'LL have to hire an attorney to represent him in court and you know what? I'll be down there the whole time to make sure you go through with the whole procedure. Do you know how many parents went through with the procedure? ZERO. Not a one. Now in your case, you don't say if you filed theft charges or not. Just that you reported it stolen. I'm suspect she claimed you gave her the computer. If anything, you should have posted the bimbo who ripped off the computer. That's the problem with these cases. The person who was ripped off, doesn't hold the person who ripped them off responsible. If that person doesn't hold them responsible, why sould the police? It's a F'd up mindset these people have.

Everyone else covered the "stop hanging out with losers" angle. What I want to know is: what kind of 'professional' keeps his backups on the same computer???? If you worked for me, and you had to re-do my site because you were stupid enough not to make backups, I'd fire you. Instantly.

You will probably not get anything more than just a judgement against them and maybe a little bit of satisfaction on principle. Good luck.

Pleas don't tell me your "friend" told you. If so, I bet he was "real sorry" too. By not calling the cops you essentially tied their hands.

There was your mistake. You should have filed a police report immediately upon realizing your computer was stolen. Then, when it was found, it would have been classified as "stolen property".

Did you offer to pay the pawn shop for the computer? Next time this happens (and as Dave pointed out, it WILL if you hang out with druggies) at least offer to reimburse the pawn shop for what it paid for the item. It might give you a happier outcome. This is NOT the shop's fault as it had no way to know the computer was stolen, so it would be the victim in this story had it been forced to give you back your computer after it paid for it. You allowed a known drug addict access to your things, so you in effect caused this situation. Had you offered to make the store whole again, you might have received the computer back. Most pawn shops are fairly understanding about theft, but the shop is not going to allow itself to be the losing party in such a situation - especially if it had no way of knowing or suspecting there was theft involved.

This is honestly your own fault dude. When you have friends or hang out with drug addicts this is common-place. What do you expect? A drug addict will do what ever it takes to get the next fix. Also, this Pawn Shop is just doing its job. Think about it, what is a Pawn Shop? It's a place for dead-beats & druggies to sell there stolen merchandise. You think a guy that owns a business like that is going to do you any favors? I wouldn't if I was in that profession. So, do yourself a favor, get some new friends that aren't going to rip you off to cure there fix and you won't be in a situation like this again. Don't blame everyone else for your own stupidity. When you play with fire, you get burned.
