K & B TRANSPORTATION/WESTERN LIVESTOCK UNFAIR DISCHARGE FOR SPILLED CHICKEN S. SIOUX CITY, Nebraska
I was a truck driver for K & B Transportation for over 1 year, I thought I was doing a very good job for the Company, I picked up and delivered on time, did not have any accidents while driving for them, and followed all Company rules and policies.
Driving on a two lane road at 50 mph a driver of a small car past me then decided to apply his brakes and turn off to the right without even signaling, of course I had to brake hard to keep from hitting his car and maybe hurting or killing him!
My cargo was 18,000 lbs of fresh chicken in nine large card board tubs called combo containers on wooden pallets held down with plastic wrap, of course 8 of the containers colasped and fresh chicken spilled out onto the floor of the trailer for a total loss of the load.
I was terminated, the Company would not even take into account that I avoided injury, death, or loss of equiptment by my action to brake hard, it seems that lately there have been to many claims for damaged freight against the Company and they make examples by termination of the driver no matter the reason! I think this policy Just Unfair!
