KDR SERVICES local mechanic almost destroyed my car REDDITCH
I had my car booked in with the mobile service called KDR services for a simple service and cambelt change. it was conveniently located round the corner from my parents house so that I could easily drop my car off and spend the day with them until it was ready to be picked up.
The mechanic advised me on jobs that will need doing asap eg front brakes change, as expected when paying for a full service. I managed (somehow) to drive my car home and park up on the drive and the next day it wouldn't start. After calling the AA they knew immediately my cambelt had not been fitted correctly and because I had driven it home my engine may be beyond repair so he towed me to the nearest garage so that they could have a look when the time was convenient
In the meantime my partner called the mechanic and he said to give him a call once the car is looked at at the garage. The garage stated that my cambelt had jumped 4 teeth and that if it had been 5 teeth it would have pretty much destroyed my engine. also the garage stated that the mechanic in question also failed to notice that my water pump was corroded and leaking badly and that i should have been advised on this.
At this point my partner again tried to call the mechanic and not one call was returned or answered all day so I had to give the garage the go ahead to repair my car
Basically this mechanic had no idea how to fit a cambelt and failing to do a simple job could have potentially destroyed my car. when the guy eventually did answer his phone he refused to return any money as compensation because he said he should have looked at my car himself. At no point did he offer to repair the car when he was originally called in the first place and why on earth would i trust him after nearly destroying my engine?
I wish to warn all other people who want services, cambelt and brake changes done to their cars in redditch to stay clear of KDR services, Riverside, Redditch, UK
